Buenos Aires has a serious retail culture, and Palermo is its heart. The neighborhood's full of independent boutiques, local designers, and vintage shops. Its general fashion sense reflects the city's European roots. And LGBTQ-specific shops? They're just part of the scene here, not stuck on some special strip.
Palermo shopping
Palermo Soho, especially the blocks around El Salvador, Honduras, and Thames, has the most boutiques. These are all independent places, not chains: local designers, good vintage finds, leather goods, and fashion that's actually current. It's a genuinely good area for just wandering around and looking. Prices, if you're thinking in dollars or euros, are pretty decent.
Buenos Aires has a long history of making leather goods — bags, belts, jackets. That comes from the country's cattle industry. You'll find good quality leather here for less money than almost anywhere outside Italy. If that's what you're after, Palermo and the San Telmo antiques market are your best bets.
LGBTQ shops
Some shops in Palermo aim specifically at an LGBTQ crowd: pride merchandise, gear, and some adult stuff. You won't have trouble finding them if you're spending time in the neighborhood. The area is so open that LGBTQ retail just sits comfortably next to all the other boutiques. No need to hide anything.

Prices in Buenos Aires are low for anyone visiting from abroad. That makes shopping a lot more appealing than it would be somewhere more expensive. Local goods — especially leather, textiles, and fashion — are usually good quality. Weekend flea markets in San Telmo and Palermo add even more choices.
