THE POSITIVES:
The restaurant food is excellent, delicious, and plentiful. The jacuzzi is huge and worked perfectly. The view from the room is incredible: you can see the entire lake, a truly beautiful landscape worth highlighting. And the front-of-house team—3 waitresses and 1 waiter—was extraordinary: attentive, friendly, and always willing to help. Special mention for "DJ Tina," who was a 100/100 and one of the best people we met during our entire stay. Thank you to them for making the experience even better!
WHAT NEEDS IMPROVEMENT:
1. Room Access
It's not mentioned when booking that the rooms are separate from the reception and restaurant, and that you have to walk between one and one and a half blocks up a steep slope. The problem isn't the descent, but the climb back up, which is really physically demanding. And it's not just once a day; you have to do it every time you go to and from breakfast, lunch, dinner, and every time you go out. My boyfriend and I are 35 and 31 years old, and we both train regularly, yet we still found it exhausting. Imagine if you're traveling with elderly people, children, or people with reduced mobility. The hotel itself charges a 10,000 peso surcharge for room service, implicitly acknowledging the effort involved in the climb. This information should be available at the time of booking.
2. Connectivity
The hotel advertises on its website: "Chromecast so you can watch your favorite series, movies, or videos on Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, Disney+, and many more platforms," in addition to Wi-Fi. But the reality is that you have to request the Chromecast from reception and wait for them to come up and set it up. Netflix and Spotify had enormous delays, we could never use Disney+, and the Wi-Fi was so weak that a video call on my boyfriend's birthday had to be cut short. Concrete promises that were not kept.
3. Air Conditioning
Located above the entrance door, next to the bathroom, at the opposite end from the bed area, in a very spacious suite. The air conditioning didn't reach the sleeping area (keep in mind that my boyfriend is very sensitive to the heat and we were there in the summer). When we complained (just 2 hours after check-in), we first asked for a room change, which was denied due to lack of availability. Then, given the impossibility of changing rooms, we requested a refund so we could stay in another hotel that could guarantee basic comfort. The response was that the rate was non-refundable. We clarified that we weren't asking for a refund of our own volition, but because the hotel wasn't fulfilling the service offered, which invalidated that clause. Finally, the hotel acknowledged that there would be availability the following day and offered us a fan as a temporary solution. After seeing the other rooms, we decided to stay in ours because it had the best jacuzzi and the best view, but the problem persisted, and the initial handling of the situation was not up to the standard of a 4-star hotel.
4. Suite Condition
A single, small trash can in the bathroom for the entire suite overflowed throughout the day; dated decor; aesthetically poor curtains; the double bed was actually two single beds pushed together; and the towels, while clean, were stained (unacceptable in any hotel category).
5. Incomplete Check-in
Upon arrival, no one informed us of breakfast or restaurant hours, nor the location of the pool or spa. A professional and thorough welcome is expected at a 4-star hotel, especially in an establishment where the facilities are physically spread out and on uneven terrain. The initial lack of orientation caused unnecessary confusion and discomfort.
CONCLUSION Beautiful natural surroundings, excellent cuisine, and outstanding front-of-house staff. However, there is a significant gap between what was promised and what was received for a 4-star hotel for which we paid USD 1,230. With better communication and attention to basic details, it could be truly excellent. We hope this review will be helpful to both future guests and the hotel itself.
