Farol de Itapuã / Praia de Catussaba

The dunes and beach between the Itapuã lighthouse and Praia de Catussaba, on Salvador's far-eastern shore, have been listed for decades as a night-time gay cruising (pegação) area. We haven't confirmed current activity. Safety comes first here. This stretch is isolated and poorly lit at night, and robbery is a real risk. Public sex is an offence in Brazil, even though same-sex relationships are legally recognised. Itapuã is far from the centre: take a rideshare both ways, don't go alone and leave valuables behind.
