Mayta Restaurante

The staff service was excellent, and the drinks were delicious. The food… I expected much more.

I absolutely cannot recommend this place. At a restaurant of this level, it’s not acceptable to leave literally hungry (I’ve been to several restaurants of a similar level and this has never happened to me before). The only positive thing about the food was the progression of flavours and how well they worked together throughout the meal: there’s a lot of research behind it and you can say that. The restaurant itself is also very nice and the service was good, and that’s the only reason I’m not giving it the lowest possible rating. Apart from that, I really cannot recommend the tasting menu. The dishes I saw from the à la carte menu actually looked much better, but I won’t give this place a second chance. Very disappointing. Definitely not recommended.

Went to Mayta pretty spontaneously and managed to book it for lunch with the à la carte and it was amazing, really. The dishes we ordered were beautifully looking and tasted amazing. Would highly recommend on every dish I pinned a photo of. Personally, I found the paiche a la brasa as a pretty weak main dish, especially compared to the amazing starters we had. Every once in a while I eat a dessert that blows me away and it happened to me in Mayta. When I looked at the dessert menu I couldn’t really find anything that interests me to taste but after a recommendation from the waiter I decided on the Tart which was perfect, no other words needed. The service we received was excellent, the waiters checked on us many times to see if we enjoy and the hostess helped us by booking a taxi and she was very nice. Overall, you have to try this restaurant if you’re planning a trip to Lima, or if you’re there right now obviously.

Beautiful restaurant and courteous, professional service, but unfortunately the food was well below our expectations. We chose Mayta because of its reputation, but several dishes felt rather ordinary and some were frankly disappointing. We did not find the level of precision, creativity or consistency we expected from a restaurant of this standing. The most disappointing aspect was the handling of a dietary intolerance that had been clearly communicated in advance. We expected much more attention and coordination from the kitchen. The bill was around USD 200 for two people. The issue is not the price itself, but the value received in terms of food quality and overall care. Pleasant setting and good service, but overall we found Mayta significantly overrated compared with the actual dining experience.

A wonderful discovery of an Amazonian-Peruvian fusion cuisine, original and full of character. A minor drawback, however, is the value for money, which could be improved, even if it ultimately seems quite consistent with the pricing standards of restaurants in the Top 50 best restaurants in the world.

The place is divine. Delicious Peruvian signature cuisine. Oscar and Edgar served us.

Calories ingested with a 200$+ menu per person are not enough to be full. Needed a pizza afterwards. If you are looking for wholesome flavors this place ain’t for you. It’s a bunch of experimental bites with a sugary and fruity after taste which leave an acidic rumble in your stomach

Perhaps I made the wrong choice, but this restaurant didn't live up to my expectations. The place is very nice, the music and atmosphere are great. You can easily have a conversation. I ordered a Humo Punch to start, and the presentation was spectacular, but the cocktail itself didn't impress me. I've had better ones at several less upscale establishments. For my first course, I ordered the octopus, which came in a bed of quite good sauces and was beautifully presented, but it didn't wow me either. My main course was the beef cheek, which was served with mashed potatoes and a mix of shoestring potatoes. I couldn't find the mashed potatoes flavorful or with a good texture. The shoestring potatoes had too strong a taste of the frying oil. The beef cheek was very tender, with a sauce made from the cooking bones that also didn't stand out to me. If I had eaten at a place with lower expectations, I would have said the food was "good," but at this place and at this price, I think the quality-price ratio is very unbalanced.
