A great place with a great atmosphere, a wide variety of Latin music, and affordable prices. The only downside is that it's only open on weekends; it would be wonderful if it were open more often.

I was told ValeTodo Downtown was the place to be, and it turned out to be right around the corner from where I was staying. But I’m an older gay man, and when I passed by, it was teeming with adolescents. Not my vibe. So I went looking for somewhere with a more mature crowd and landed on La Cueva. Good call. Like with most places I visited in Lima, I didn’t feel my skin color. I’m moreno, but I didn’t get that “you don’t belong” energy. If anything, I might’ve been a bit of an unusual sight there, but nothing uncomfortable. The space is nice, the music is good, and I had a really good time dancing. It’s not very international, though, so if you’re a foreigner, you probably won’t know a lot of what’s being played. That said, once it leans reggaeton, you can still find your groove because it’s close enough to dancehall to make sense to a Caribbean body. I did wish there had been a bit more international music. I thought about telling the DJ I was from Barbados and asking for a little Rihanna, but I also refused to be that person trying to make the whole club about them. What I appreciated: they had non-alcoholic beer, which I can’t get in Barbados, the Wi-Fi worked so I could call an Uber when my roaming package refused to cooperate, and the security guard was genuinely helpful and friendly. Some security guards can be dicks, but he was cool. I’d go back to dance. But like a lot of gay spots, people tend to stick to their groups and cliques, so it can be a bit difficult to actually interact. Go with the intention to enjoy yourself, not necessarily to meet people. Overall, definitely a more mature, balanced crowd than what you’ll likely find at ValeTodo Downtown or other places. I’d go back. Martin Boyce Barbados

Great music and atmosphere, I enjoyed the show. The signal isn't great, but they let you use the club's Wi-Fi for free, which is a very good option.
