I recently stayed at Hotel Dorion just at the end of September. This is my second stay with this hotel as I had a great stay last time. This trip I was shocked at the difference. Mainly my room in particular was tidy but very unclean, specifically the bathroom. The floor was covered in some sort of greasy film and the bed was also a broken metal frame that I had to keep pushing back into place so the mattress wasnt tilted. Worst of all, there was some type of maggots/larvae that were crawling up from the drains in the sink and the shower. They were small, so at first I assumed it was dirt and wipe it away, only for them to return—this happened continuously throughout the weekend which makes me believe the entire plumbing is probably infested. I did not want to leave a public, potentially damaging review as I had a great stay last time and the staff have always been very friendly and helpful. But I tried to get in touch with them with three separate contacts and after a month I have not heard back. I am not usually one to leave reviews unless they are positive, but this was stay was particularly bad. As I said, the staff have always been super friendly so I was surprised when I didn't hear back at all.

Hello, I'd like to share my experience. My girlfriend and I booked the room with the jacuzzi. First, regarding cleanliness, there were pimple patches. Then, we found sunflower shells. The bed was very clean, as were all the toiletries. It's a nice place to feel safe. It's not soundproof, and breakfast isn't included. We were asked for a $100 deposit. I recommend this place if you want comfort and don't want to pay too much (we paid $187).

If I could give the 0 stars I would .. We booked this hotel through airbnb as it was one of the last ones during a very busy weekend for Montreal. Room upon booking on airbnb looked clean and presentable. They claim to be in the gay village but if you zoom in closely it’s right outside of it and at night the area is sketchy as all hell and we as two women traveling alone did NOT feel safe. The hotel is also above a very loud and active bar … like literally blasting music all night and using a microphone. Drove us insane .. Upon arrival around 11:30PM, we sat at the front door waiting to be buzzed in for almost 20 minutes. We buzzed multiple times and eventually had to call the Airbnb host who had to call the person working to see what was going on as the host does not stay on site. As we were waiting two very sketchy individuals walked into the very tiny entrance corridor and stood right in between my friend and I trying to open the door.. as we explained to him the situation he did not move and just waited instead of exiting the tiny entrance and letting us enter .. When we were finally buzzed in, we had to carry out very heavy luggage up a pissy smelling set of stairs into a very small lobby with the two individuals who followed us in and two more behind them. As my friend is fluent in French, she talked with the concierge but when we said something in English he decided to explain to us in English , very very loudly , what our floor number was , our room number , and the code to get into the room. Quite literally announced it in front of 4 other strangers without a second thought.. he then rushed us through an employee entrance to get us away from the two people who came in behind us. So of course two women travelling alone are freaked out at this point that this man just announced our room code and number to a bunch of people. We get to the room and the only locking mechanism on the door is a house deadbolt with a key pad. There is literally no other way to lock the door from the inside. There was also a significant gap between the floor and the door so if anyone wanted to the count have stuck something under. The room itself looked fine, relatively clean , bathroom was a little weird but most of our issues with this place was the safety concerns about the area and the room code. We left immediately the next morning and the lady at the desk was very VERY lovely and wanted to help if she could. She was super understanding, gave us our security deposit back and apologized on behalf of the night staff.

The room was very nice, the service was friendly, the place is a bit old but they keep it clean and comfortable. I would definitely stay there again. Affordable prices and a great location for enjoying your stay. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED 👍🏻

Room was clean, staff were nice. Just don’t lock yourself out on the balconies by accident. If you expect a 5 star hotel experience look elsewhere. If you want a nice, clean, well priced, conveniently located room to stay in, this is it.

Unclean rooms that smell of smoke and mildew, stained sheets and towels. Room doesn’t look as pictured Would not stay here again
