Ten Oaks Project

This is for the 10 Oaks Camp. My 17 year old with AuADHD attended the West Camp this year. It was an amazing experience. Your team was amazing. She had never been at a sleep away camp before and she really benefited from it. The activities were engaging and fun. The support and inclusiviity were spectacular. As a kid with AuADHD she can often be overwhelmed but having an option for "outside eaters" who have sensory needs to eat in a quiet environment, and other such accommodations were such wonderful options. Having a wonderful nursing staff that managed her medications flawlessly was such a relief. Also she felt so supported and inspired by all of the LGBTQ+peers and staff. It was wonderful for her to see LGBTQ adults living their lives and bringing positivity into the world. This camp was a wonderful experience for my child and I encouraged all youth to attend and experience the positivity that this camp creates.

This from their registration page: " For campers that are added to our waitlist, we will prioritize giving spots to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and people of colour) ..." This is racist. Very Un-Canadian. White kids go to the back of the line. How am I going to explain this to my daughter? Breaks my heart because she really wants to go. Response to 10 oaks response: My daughter is not guilty of these historical injustices. Two wrongs don't make a right. 10 Oaks is on the wrong side of history and the Canadian Human Rights Act.
