The coolest and most authentic hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The staff is awesome! Didn’t want to leave.
We were actually a bit hesitant when we first arrived because the hotel is tucked away on a corner and we somehow walked past it before finding the entrance. But once we got inside, the welcome was incredibly warm and immediately put us at ease. La Valise is a very small property, but that’s exactly what makes it special. It feels intimate, personal, and thoughtfully curated. One thing that really stood out was that you can tell every single piece in the hotel was selected with intention. Nothing feels generic or mass-produced. Every room seems to have its own personality. We stayed in the Halo Suite while my parents stayed in a different suite, and it was honestly surprising how different they were. Their suite had a beautiful outdoor terrace with a bathtub, while ours had a completely different layout and atmosphere. It didn’t feel like the same room repeated throughout the hotel. Every suite feels unique, which is something you rarely find these days. The staff were fantastic throughout our stay. Everyone was consistently friendly and happy to share recommendations for the neighborhood, from restaurants and cafés to cocktail bars. Their suggestions ended up being some of our favorite experiences in Mexico City. The location is also hard to beat. The neighborhood is vibrant, very walkable, and full of life. There are great restaurants, bars, cafés, boutiques, and local shops right outside the door. Having the café downstairs was also super convenient for grabbing a coffee before heading out for the day. Overall, this was a very pleasant surprise.
We stayed in the Nebula Suite at La Valise and the room itself was beautiful and unique. The location in Roma Norte is also great. That said, the overall experience did not match the price point we paid. Breakfast each morning took a long time (often close to an hour), and the complementary items like orange juice or yogurt would either take forever or never arrive. The hotel would benefit from a buffet breakfast setup instead. There’s also no real room service, no dinner options onsite, no gym, and during our stay the pool wasn’t working. The hotel feels more like a small boutique Airbnb than a true luxury hotel experience. There’s barely a lobby, the entry/key system was finicky, and there wasn’t much of an actual concierge presence to help with reservations or activities. At one point we wanted tickets to Lucha Libre and the woman at front desk said they were sold out and she couldn’t help us. I ended up finding tickets and booking the experience myself. Overall, it’s pretty, but massively overpriced for what you actually get. We enjoyed the design of the room, but for the cost, we expected a much smoother and more complete luxury experience.
Staying at La Valise was nothing short of magical. So happy I was able to extend my trip to enjoy more time at this lovely hotel! We booked the gravity room which was spacious, clean and elegantly designed. I appreciated the separation of spaces within the room. There was a living room with plenty of natural light, a bedroom with access to a private outdoor space. A nice sized closet with plenty of space for our things. The bathroom was huge and had a shower fit for two as well as a stand alone tub. I love that they left a jar of bathsalts next to the tub for us to use. On our last night, we were upgraded to the Polaris suite. This room was on the top floor. In the bedroom area, the back glass wall opens up and you can roll the bed outside to sleep under the stars. A very unique space! The staff was incredible. Super professional, kind and caring. They were easily reachable via WhatsApp which was so convenient. I enjoyed catching up with them during my stay. This hotel has a cafe on the first floor and offers breakfast, including coffee from the shop. The coffee was delicious and each meal was such a treat. You have the option to have it in your room or in the cafe downstairs. It was one of the things that made our stay so special! I would definitely recommend staying here!
First time in Mexico City. Went there with a group for a birthday milestone. The staff was amazing. It's a small boutique hotel which reminds me of Paris. They have a cafe connected for breakfast which is super cute and coffee/cappuccino was amazing along with their almond croissant which I am still thinking about.
