Best spot around! I’m here almost every day. The atmosphere is so fun! The bartenders are the kindest, funnest humans beings you’ve ever met!

Cool place. White security dude with the ginger beard I guess has never seen a nys id. Went in before with some friends and left. Him and another guard let me in. Came back an hour later and was told “I don’t feel safe letting you in” and that my ID was fake. Just him at the door no other security to verify my id. No scanners.

I was a patron at Johnny Mac’s for a few years until they enacted their dress code… No “durags” or “gang related colors” is blatant racism. Wouldn’t feel safe bringing a Black friend here and that just isn’t right after I felt so welcome as a queer person here.

This used to be my favorite bar, but the new dress code not allowing durags gives the impression that they want this to be a “whites only establishment.” Not to mention, my friends and I have seen roaches here. We will not be returning.

Five stars for the drinks and atmosphere. Zero stars for whatever customer service experiment is happening behind the bar. The bartender with the aquatic leg tattoo has somehow turned bartending into a completely nonverbal profession. No greeting. No "thank you." No eye contact. In fact, he doesn't even look at you, he looks somewhere over your shoulder like he's waiting for someone more important to walk in. It's honestly fascinating to watch someone choose a job that's 90% interacting with people while seeming to resent every second of interacting with people. You don't have to smile. You don't have to crack jokes. You just have to acknowledge that customers exist. Apparently, that's asking too much. If looking annoyed, avoiding eye contact, and acting like every drink order is a personal inconvenience is the goal, then congratulations - absolute perfection. Maybe front-of-house just isn't his calling. Back-of-house seems like a much better fit. The dishes won't mind being ignored.

If you try to come here in the summer, make sure you have two to three forms of PHYSICAL valid ID. I don't like to travel with my credit cards (I'm 31 years old/have lived at the Jersey Shore since 21), so my husband (we share the same last name) carries my ID in his wallet. Before I even handed the bouncer my ID, he said "do you have a second form?" When I let him know I did not have a physical second form, but my husband could show his credit cards/I could show them my passport on my phone, they refused me entry. Mind you, I've been coming to Johnny Mac's as a customer for 10+ years. Needless to say, don't waste your business here. There are plenty of small businesses in Asbury that deserve it more.

extremely disappointed. security guards asked for two forms of IDs that are physical. When we asked when this introduce, they rudely say it was on the website which was incorrect as we looked at the website.
