About this place The Asbury Hotel

The Asbury Hotel is one of the most important buildings in the story of Asbury Park's revival: a stylish boutique hotel that opened in 2016 in the shell of a former YMCA two blocks from the boardwalk, signalling the arrival of design-conscious hospitality investment in a city that had been without significant hotel development for decades. The hotel's 110 rooms are designed with the deliberate casualness of a beach property that knows its market — young, design-conscious, and drawn to the particular combination of nostalgia and reinvention that Asbury Park embodies. The rooftop bar is the social hub of the summer evening: open to hotel guests and the public, with views of the boardwalk and ocean, it operates as one of the best outdoor drinking spaces on the New Jersey Shore. The ground-floor bar and the Salvation café-bar are similarly popular with the city's gay community and their visitors. The Asbury is explicitly welcoming of LGBTQ+ guests and has been a significant part of the city's queer social infrastructure since it opened. For visitors who want to be at the centre of Asbury Park's revival culture, it is the correct choice.

We had our son’s wedding and reception at the hotel was an unbelievable experience. From the fantastic barista in the coffee lounge off the lobby to all the employees that help helped. If you’re planning a wedding and want everybody to be in one space this is the place! Thank you very much Hotel Asbury…

While the lobby, rooftop bar, and pool area are pleasant, the rooms are incredibly small and feel cheaply made, without real bathroom doors (just saloon style doors that don’t lock) or coffee machines. The floor was visibly scuffed and corners of the room were dirty. There is no included coffee, you can pay five dollars for drip when the lobby cafe opens, which felt quite cheap for rooms priced in the 600s. At their prices, I’d recommend staying elsewhere and just coming for an afternoon at the pool or drink on the rooftop.

We had a fantastic Tuesday night stay with our 2.5 year old. The staff were friendly and accommodating from arrival, we felt relaxed and well looked after the whole stay. Our Park Suite was very clean and really comfortable. The swimming pool is well maintained and great for families. The Counter was a great spot to grab coffee in the morning. It was perfect being so close to the beach, broadwalk and restaurants. I would definitely recommend.
