The Asbury Hotel

Tiny room , cheap bedding and mattress. So so towels.

We've stayed at The Asbury a number of times in the last couple of years. We booked initially because it is dog friendly and we want to bring our Chihuahua with us. But we keep coming back for that reason and because it is a fun place. Is it a luxury resort? No. But the rooms are always clean and the service is unmatched. From the front desk, to the housekeeping team, the counter, diner and bar servers and valet, everyone greets you with a smile and a kind word. It is a nice relaxing place for us to spend a few days with our dog in our favorite Jersey shore town.

Rooms are nice but tiny. Pool is okay vibe wise. GREAT location

As someone who works in hospitality, I have to say this experience has been incredibly disappointing. When you’re paying nearly $600 a night after resort fees, you expect a certain level of service—especially from what is marketed as a four-star hotel. The pool was closed our first day, which was frustrating enough. When it finally opened, the outdoor pool area was dirty, the grounds were poorly maintained, and there was virtually no staff available. Guests were waiting in lines eight people deep just to order a drink, with no servers walking the pool deck. We waited 45 minutes for a single drink, and getting food was just as difficult. The most disappointing part is that everyone around us was saying the same thing. This wasn’t an isolated complaint—it was clear the hotel is severely understaffed and struggling to provide the level of service guests are paying for. Management needs to take a hard look at what’s happening here. Charging premium prices while delivering subpar service is unacceptable. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured we won’t be returning.

DO NOT BUY A RESORT PASS FOR THE POOL at The Asbury!!!! I bought a resort pass through the Resort Pass app for 3 people a couple of weeks ago. The day before the reservation I received a text message the pool will be closing on 7/12 at 3:30 and I could request a refund. However, leaving at 3:30 was ok with us because we had dinner reservations on the boardwalk at 5pm. So we figured we would take that time to change and walk to restaurant. I got there the morning of the 12th at 0750 only to be told the pool was closed for a private event. I mentioned the text I received and was told “sorry, that was a mistake”. And that’s it. She could care less, that this ruined my entire plan with friends and at a major inconvenience and cost to my friends. It’s not like we live in Asbury and walked over to the hotel. My friends are coming from north Jersey They woke up early paid for gas , tolls and parking. And all we get is an “Im sorry” ? I strongly feel not only should we be refunded. We should be offered a discount for a resort pass to use at another time. I got no call, email or text saying the pool was Closed. My friends drove over an hour, an “I’m sorry “ DOES NOT CUT IT!!!

We had a great stay at Asbury Park hotel. We appreciate that it is kids friendly and the staff is very accommodating. Special thanks to Dominique (sorry if misspelled the name). She was very nice by helping to find our Ipad that we left in the lobby. Overall we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The only suggestion is to fix the pinball machine in the lobby (one of the handels isn’t working)
