About the event

Discover the wild side of Atlanta right in the heart of Midtown! From sweeping views of Lake Clara Meer to micro-details on native plants and fungi, Piedmont Park is packed with nature waiting to be photographed.
Whether you are holding a smartphone, a film camera, or professional gear, this free meetup is open to everyone! No experience is required. Join professional photographer Don Orkoskey of WDO Photography Atlanta to connect with fellow nature lovers, pick up photography tips, and explore our local ecosystem together.
Meeting Details
Time: Promptly at 9:00 AM (Please arrive 5–10 minutes early so we can start together on time).
Location: Dockside Visitors Center (12th Street Park Entrance).
Finding the Group: Meet on the path directly in front of the building (street side). If your GPS acts up, navigate to the 12th Street entrance and walk in from the street. We will be right where the path splits around the Visitor's Center. Look for people with cameras gathered near the path!
Running late? If you arrive after 9:00 AM, check behind the Visitor's Center near the dock. If you're really late try to find us on the path going around the lake.
What to Expect We will wander around Lake Clara Meer and down to Clear Creek capturing birds, insects, plant life, and urban wildlife. Recent walks have spotted Great Blue Herons, Barred Owls in the Wetlands, and vibrant songbirds near the BeltLine.
About Your Host I'm Don Orkoskey, owner of WDO Photography.
