Poor, poor front desk service. 4 women chatting to themselves and not welcoming me or making eye contact for my first minute standing in front of them. No other guests were waiting so it was just rude to me. And I have worked in hospitality. Then they charge my overseas credit card $100 USD as a security deposit. Who pays the bloody overseas banking and exchange rate fee! Me! In my room, the toilet roll is down to the last quarter roll. It was folded over so they knew it was almost out, no back up so had to go ask housekeeping for a backup. Mid afternoon and there is a constant knocking on my wall from next door. I knocked on their wall back. No change. After a half hour of this, I asked to move rooms, after explaining the noise. No remedy examined or explained. The duty manager met me at my door to take me to my new room. He had his harsh, aggressive face on, and in my face. I hated that, and won't forgive him, even if I ever got an apology. I felt intimidated. The next room was quiet, ground floor this time, with a balcony sliding door that wouldn't even open. I asked a hotel worker and they couldn't open it either. The chairs on the outside balcony were nothing but a tease. To fellow travellers; this is a very isolated property. Nothing is close. You can't walk down to the shops. It is windy, it is cold...and the staff are equally far from warm. I wouldn't stay there again.

Doubletree? A better description would be "Toilet By The Sea." I had a room reserved and paid through a corporate account. They sold the King size room from under me. Told me I never used their app to check into the room (which I did) and then they decided to charge me a no call no show fee to my personal card. I called them to let them know I was late, on the road driving from St. Louis multiple times as well. I spoke to one front desk who said they would get the manager Rommel to speak with me. Never did. Another had me on phone for 20 minutes just for another staff member to tell me he wasn't there. Lastly the night auditor, when I complained about why they were deleting my new reservations yelled at me and cancelled them! So if you like being dumped on, this is your place! I am highest teir member of IHG, Diamond Elite for staying 80 plus days in hotels a year for work. I was looking to try switching to Hilton properties. Their loss.

Great location, pricey, they need more front desk staff.

There is an environmental cost to having "new" and "updated" rooms! I really liked that this is a well-kept and maintained older property. The furnishings and bath vanity are real wood and therefore will show water stains and some wear. To me this is way better than modern plastic laminates that are in newer properties but have shorter lifecycles and get changed out just to be stylistically updated. The housekeeping team cleaned my room DURING my stay. This blew my mind. The things that matter are all excellent and provided: clean fluffy towels, stocked toiletries, complete coffee/tea set, ice bucket (!), free bottled water, AC that works, an onsite restaurant and shop, walking distance to 4th Street, nearby jogging paths, allows pets, working light bulbs in fixtures, and blackout curtains. And for those of us who look at details, the tub grout and caulk was sealed tight and mildew free. My room could not be any cleaner. And it's spacious with a small outdoor area although this could vary by room. I could hear the heavy hallway doors closing, but otherwise no noise from neighbors thru the walls. Slept like a baby and well rested! Perfect and quiet location to get work done. Staff are super friendly and hardworking. They definitely aimed to please and provided as many freebies as they could ... cookies and vouchers. This might be a Hilton Honors thing, but I'll take it. Thanks, Hilton!
