About the event

Step onto Buffalo's grandest boulevard and travel back to a pivotal moment in American history on this walking tour. On this tour, we’ll see elegant mansions, clubs, and houses of worship that defined Delaware Avenue at the turn of the twentieth century, when the city stood on the national stage as host of the Pan-American Exposition. Along the way, uncover the story of President William McKinley's visit to Buffalo and the tragic events that forever linked the city to a defining chapter in presidential history. This tour reveals how Buffalo's most prestigious avenue became the setting for both celebration and national tragedy.
This tour meets at the Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural Site at 641 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo, NY 14202. Meet in front of the Site, on the Delaware Avenue side. Parking is available in the TR Site's parking lot accessible from Franklin Street or Delaware Avenue. Please park close to the TR Site building in either the center section or along the south wall of the parking lot. This tour is approximately ninety minutes in length.
