McCormick Place Guest House
Some guests found the value for the price to be good, with one noting it was a good room for the price and a reasonable walk to the beach. However, a significant number of visitors reported extremely concerning experiences with a mandatory, non-negotiable cash deposit of $300 or $500 requested through Zelle, Venmo, or PayPal, which was not disclosed at booking and often led to their reservation being cancelled without refund.

Good
Utter scam. $500 cash deposit through zelle for "family and friends"??? Also hung up on me every single time. They cancelled the reservation without my authorization and never refunded.
Extremely concerning experience. After booking, the property demanded a $300 deposit via Zelle and explicitly refused to accept credit cards. They also required a copy of my ID by email before providing check-in access. None of these requirements were disclosed at the time of booking. Requesting off-platform payment methods like Zelle (especially “friends & family”) removes all consumer protection and is not standard practice for legitimate hotels. Refusing normal payment methods and asking for personal ID over email raises serious safety and security concerns. I was not comfortable proceeding under these conditions and could not stay here. I strongly advise others to be cautious and clarify all payment requirements in advance.
Scammer Alert. Do not book this place they charge a 500 deposit and if you don't pay they don't refund your money you spend to stay
