The Ritz-Carlton-A Four Seasons Hotel

Very strict workers made the lounges very uncomfortable as well and being extremely rude . Rooms were great food was great service was good

Stayed here for two nights this past weekend and found it underwhelming. Just now I was looking around online at some of the other Ritz to see if this was a systemic problem or just certain Hotels and it does seem like the Ritz hotels vary a lot. I keep starting to type a detailed review and I just find it too negative and bad for my karma so I’m just going to say if you’re in Chicago and you want the type of service you expect to get at the Ritz stay at the Peninsula. Both have comfy beds and wonderful housekeeping. Peninsula has bigger and better appointed rooms and will never put tarnished silverware on the table. The peninsula will tie up your charging cords with a fancy ribbon and truly make you feel special with their attention to detail and to every single guest. The Portland Ritz looks like a beautiful hotel at 1/3 the price and quite possibly more of the 5 star service, so while I won’t be returning to the Chicago ritz, I definitely would give the Portland one at least one try. When Ritz was owned by four seasons, I think they all had that extreme attention to detail. Now it’s more like the name is there to charge a lot but that’s about it.

Easily the most underwhelming luxury hotel I’ve stayed at in Chicago. The rooms are generic, outdated, and completely lacking in character. For the price, it feels much closer to a Hampton Inn than a Ritz-Carlton. Nothing about the experience justified the premium rate. Chicago has far better options such as The Langham, Peninsula, or Four Seasons. I won’t be returning.

Love this hotel! The bedding is so comfy — I slept like a baby. The blackout curtains also make a huge difference in sleep quality. The room is cleaned thoroughly every day, and this is actually my second stay here now. I’ve loved it every time. The location is great too — within walking distance to so many places you’d want to explore as a tourist, and the area feels extremely safe. They even provide umbrellas when it rains, which is such a thoughtful touch. Lovely experience here as always!

My first time in Chicago, I stayed here during Memorial Day long weekend and it wasn’t overwhelmingly busy! Everyone is super nice, the hotel is ABSOLUTELY stunning. Can’t wait to be back!

Do not stay here. Many better options with honest workers. My car was damaged in valet and the lies and cover up is disgusting. I have photos- but they use a third party garage and just don’t care. I’m guessing by the inability to pay for the damage they have financial issues. I spent more in 24 hours than the claim would be. They are just awful People. Run

My recent stay at The Ritz-Carlton was extremely disappointing, especially for a brand that promotes itself as the standard of luxury hospitality. I will say the staff members themselves were polite and friendly throughout the experience, and I appreciate the professionalism they showed when the issue was brought to their attention. Unfortunately, professionalism cannot make up for the condition of the room or the way the situation was ultimately handled. Finding blood stains on the bed sheets was absolutely unacceptable for any hotel, especially one charging premium luxury prices. Cleanliness should never be questionable at a property carrying the Ritz-Carlton name. It was unsanitary, disturbing, and honestly made the entire stay uncomfortable from that point forward. What made the situation even more frustrating was the response afterward. Ursula Tatum attempted to offer me a rate that I found completely unacceptable considering the seriousness of the issue and the amount of money guests spend to stay here. For a company that generates the kind of revenue and reputation that the Ritz-Carlton does, the resolution felt dismissive and lacking genuine concern for customer experience. It’s no wonder why the are currently rating at 4.6. Looks like JW Marriott is the way to go! The overall impression left behind was that customer satisfaction comes second to protecting profits. Rather than making a meaningful effort to restore confidence after such a serious cleanliness issue, it felt like the focus was simply on offering the bare minimum and moving on. That is incredibly disappointing from a brand that once built its reputation on excellence, attention to detail, and making guests feel valued. The Ritz-Carlton used to symbolize luxury, care, and high standards. Sadly, this experience reflected the opposite. While the employees I interacted with were courteous, the declining standards and lack of accountability from management have made it clear that the brand no longer prioritizes its customers the way it once did.

The Ritz-Carlton Chicago will not disappoint you, but it also will not change you — and sometimes that’s exactly what you need. The staff are genuinely warm in a way that feels earned rather than scripted, and the bartenders in particular are operating at a level that makes you wonder if they’re being paid in tips or in pure personal satisfaction. Rooms are comfortable and tasteful, though “Ritz-Carlton” may be doing heavier lifting than the décor. The real sell is the location: you’re a short walk from Michigan Avenue, good restaurants, and the kind of retail that requires you to lie to your spouse about what you spent. Four stars — luxury hotel, thoroughly human bar program.
