via Stay22About this place Sprout
Sprout, at 1417 West Fullerton Avenue in Lakeview, is a French-American spot run by Dale Levitski, a gay chef who was a runner-up on Top Chef and the first Chicagoan to compete.
They do a prix fixe menu. It's fancy food, but the room itself, recently renovated, doesn't feel stuffy. You can wear nice jeans and not feel out of place.
Levitski made his name on TV, but here he's just cooking good food in a neighborhood restaurant. It works for a big night out, or just when you want a serious meal close to home.
Chicago has a lot of places to eat, but Sprout is also openly LGBTQ+-owned. It matters to some people, and it doesn't hurt that the food is good. You can check out menus and book a table at sproutrestaurant.com.

I had such a pleasant experience! They helped me find a good plant that will thrive on my shaded porch this summer.
Beautiful, unique selection of plants! Every houseplant that I have bought from them has flourished gorgeously. The staff are also very kind, knowledgeable, and accommodating; they helped to ensure my plant would fit the planter that I bought. Deliveries are also efficient, friendly, and professional. One of my favorite plant stores in the city!
Stopped in for a gift but I will certainly be coming back to find myself something. They have a nice variety of plants in great shape.
Sprout is my go-to house plant store. Most recently I went in for a new pot and came out with a game plan for two plants that need attention; thanks Steven taking the time to answer my questions and talk through different options. A friend also recently sent me a beautiful Rattlesnake plant from Sprout that is doing very well. I so appreciate having a local business that is clearly passionate about what they do that not only sells great products but is also more than willing to be a resource.
I’ve been to nearly all the plant stores in the city, this is always the one I come back to. They have a wide variety of both indoor and outdoor plants. Yes they are on the expensive side but worth it for their indoor species collection. I could spend hours in here. Their shop across the street is also cute as well.
