About this place Halsted's Bar and Grill

Halsted’s Bar and Grill, on Chicago’s North Halsted Street, is a relaxed gay restaurant that always feels welcoming.

It’s one of those spots that just works, no matter the season. The crowds are mixed, the vibe’s easygoing, and you can count on good food and drinks.

The menu is all about American comfort food. Think excellent burgers and salads so big they’re practically a meal on their own. They also have a solid wine list, if you’re looking to linger a bit. The space itself is generous enough for both a quiet dinner for two or a bigger group.

You get two choices here. Inside, there’s a cozy dining room and bar that’s always a good bet. But when it warms up, the beer garden really comes alive. It's the perfect place to grab a cold drink and soak up some sun. Dress up or don't—no one cares. It’s just a reliably friendly place to meet friends or kick back.

Fun spot for drinks. We enjoyed the outdoor patio area at the back of the building.

Good food at fair prices...catch it before they close for 6 months.

Brunch is rather good; other menu items are just decent. Service is acceptable and sometimes varies widely by server. Prices are disproportionate with the overall experience.
