About this place Las Mananitas

Las Mananitas, on North Halsted Street, is a gay-friendly Mexican spot where the drinks are as much of a draw as the food.

You’ll find standard Mexican plates on the menu, but the margaritas are the real reason to come. They’re subtly strong and good—potent enough to earn their reputation, so take it easy if you’re planning a big night out.

The place sits in one of Chicago’s most gay-friendly areas, surrounded by bars and clubs. It's somewhere to get a meal and a few drinks before you head out, or just settle in for a casual evening with friends. The vibe is easygoing and welcoming, a solid choice for straightforward Mexican food in an LGBTQ+-affirming space.

Come hungry, and ready for some seriously good drinks.

The food is decent, but prohibitively expensive. They charge $5 for a side of sour cream lmao

Genuinely the least palatable Mexican food I've had in a while. A burrito should not be sweet. It was dry and wet at the same time. It felt microwaved. Very expensive! Yikes! I split an entree with someone else and it cost $31 with no addons. Very professional and kind server.

Average Mexican food, overpriced!

Great selection of Mexican and some other Hispanic dishes (Ropa Vieja, a Cuban dish is on the menu). Service is fast and friendly. The actual dishes we ate were perfect, they do a great enchilada. They don't skimp on tequila with the Margaritas.

Great Mexican food, very chill restaurant, never a wait for a table, good service. Spicy without being overpowering: vibrant and savory and wonderful. AWFUL website - genuinely terrible - but don't let that fool you! Go check this place out anyway... you'll love it.

They have the best fresh lime squeezed margaritas. I used to think I didn’t like margs until I had their margarita. I love their guacamole as well. Not the cheapest Mexican place, but for me it’s worth every penny!
