About this place HB Home Bistro

HB Home Bistro is a small, easygoing spot in Chicago's Lakeview, right on North Halsted Street, where French and Dutch cooking meet American influences.

Chef Jon-Carl Lachman runs the kitchen, pulling from European traditions to create a menu that feels both familiar and a little different. It's an intimate storefront, not a big, flashy place, which makes it good for conversation.

One of the best things about HB Home Bistro? You can bring your own bottle. That cuts out the usual restaurant markup on drinks, making a well-cooked meal a lot more affordable. It’s a smart move for a relaxed night out.

North Halsted, where the restaurant sits, has long been a center for LGBTQ+ life in Chicago, with plenty of bars and restaurants. HB Home Bistro fits right in, offering a friendly, unpretentious place to eat good food in a neighborhood known for its hospitality.

Had surfs and turf, pork and soft shell crab...WOW! Hand made cocktails...WOW! Emily, Zoe, Chef Victor, HIT IT OUT OF THE PARK. From head of Marketing at three fortune 500 companies, traveled everywhere. The best. If you visit Cleveland Little Italy (CLI). Afterwards, cigars at Mayfield Smoke Shop. Don't miss out! PS, they brought in Belvedere vodka because I asked !

Stopped in for a last minute drink. Very small bar area at the entrance. The bartender was great.

My favorite spot in Chicago until they moved to Cleveland. Now my favorite spot in Cleveland and I’ve never been there.

Home Bistro is absolutely fantastic! The shrimp was hands down some of the best I’ve ever had — perfectly cooked, flavorful, and fresh. You can really tell everything is made with care and attention to detail. Emily and Victor are incredible hosts and talented chefs. They make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in, and their passion for what they do truly shows in both the food and the atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back again. Highly recommend!

Never eating here before, I was absolutely blown away with how unique and welcoming the food and atmosphere was. Greeted with smiles and decors that felt like home, and a menu that made me want a larger stomach. Being a brunch foodie I will definitely be returning and hopefully making it a regular spot
