Amazing experience and food.
Quarter Acre is the very personal creation of Toby Archibald. It brings together his years of experience in New Zealand, London, the USA, and elsewhere. This included significant time with Daniel Boulud and this shows in his cooking. The smoked beef tartar is a subtle blend of flavors and my favorite dish of the meal. Second prize goes to linguine with etherally light pasta. Sommelier Jacob Fergus has put together one of the most interesting and unusual wine lists in town exhibiting antipodean gems I didn't know existed. If they still have any, the Ostler Pinot Gris is a NZ expression of an Alsacian wine shot through with powerful and vibrant tropical fruit tempered by an astonishing 14 years of age. He may also be the only somm to have a Chambers dessert wine on the list. Service throughout is seamlessly professional. Quarter Acres is for people who expect the best. We went a month after dining at Eter in Madrid. Based on that establishment's Michelin star, Quarter Acre is a strong candidate for the same acclaim.
The staff were incredibly kind and attentive from start to finish, The food was a genuinely adventurous, tasty experience. Every dish brought something unique and unexpected. Looking forward to going back.
Have to give credits to the chef: wonderful and creative menu highlighting chef’s origins. Service was excellent. Except the place was crammed and noisy.
This place is a gem in the heart of Dallas. We went there for my wife's birthday expecting a treat, and boy did this place deliver. This restaurant is a true chef-led restaurant and every bite of food was both surprising while also being one of the best foods we've eaten. We got the tasting menu and I'm so glad we did. Everything was consistently 10/10. In these types of places some foods are great, and some are ok, but not here! Here, everything was mindblowingly amazing! We were so pleased, we asked to meet the chef after our meal, and thanked him for making us such a memorable amazing dining experience! He was so pleasant, all the staff were, but you could tell that he really is passionate about everything that comes out of his kitchen. Thank you Quarter Acre for giving us an unforgettable eating experience well worthy of the occasion we were celebrating!
We went here for my husband’s birthday, and my parents called ahead and paid for our meal as a surprise. Unfortunately, the restaurant charged my parents’ card for a completely different and more expensive table’s meal, while also charging our card for our actual meal. We contacted the restaurant about the mistake, but a week later, neither charge has been refunded. What was supposed to be a thoughtful birthday surprise was completely ruined because of this billing error. Mistakes happen, but the lack of resolution a full week later is extremely disappointing. We expected much better customer service and accountability.
We had a wonderful date night at Quarter Acre and it absolutely lived up to everything I’d heard about it. I first became aware of the restaurant a couple of years ago because chef/owner Toby Archibald, like me, grew up in New Zealand, so naturally I was intrigued and had high expectations. From start to finish, the experience was exceptional. The cocktails and wine were top notch, and even the complimentary bread was something special — inspired by a popular New Zealand loaf and a great indication of the thought that goes into the menu. My wife loved the salmon, while I had the lamb, which was excellent. Dessert was a highlight. We shared the sticky date pudding and brandy snaps — two very familiar Down Under favorites — and both were fantastic. Jacob took terrific care of us and helped us choose dessert wines to accompany them; my wife ultimately went with a delicious tawny port. A particularly lovely touch was Toby coming over to our table when he heard there was another Kiwi in the restaurant. We really enjoyed chatting with him and it made an already memorable evening feel that much more personal. First-rate food, drinks, service and hospitality. We would highly recommend Quarter Acre and will absolutely be back — next time, we’ll bring friends.
