Shirley is an excellent hostess. Her and her husband Dave were very friendly, and accommodating to our needs. We stayed in the efficiency apartment above the garage, called "the loft". Just a great space for a couple people. We were there just two nights so we didn't use the washer and dryer in the apartment, but the full kitchen was very convenient. My wife appreciated the ice dispenser in the full size refrigerator. Sitting area aside of the kitchen had a Large TV. A second TV in the bedroom is a nice touch. The full bathroom is not huge and doesn't have a tub, but makes good use of the space with the shower stall and a closet with the washer and dryer in there. The small deck off of the back is more than just a fire escape. Large enough for a small table and a couple of chairs to sit and enjoy the outdoors and wildlife in the morning or evening. The breakfast part of this B&B is over the top. Shirley made us feel like like we were at a restaurant by serving and attending to us, first by asking what would like and then custom making each our own meal. Starting with a fruit bowl and then a generous portion of just delicious and visually appealing breakfast plates. Then to top it all off we were made to feel like we were good friends invited over to share a breakfast together with easy conversation. Just amazing people to get to know and wonderful hosts. Definitely recommend, but please don't book it for the time we want to be there ;-).

My wife and 14 month old daughter couldn't have had a nicer stay at the Roost! Dave is very funny, a die hard New England sports fan who was awesome with our daughter. Shirley, equally as sweet and welcoming, should really be cooking for a fine dining restaraunt, she's an amazing cook. The room itself was warm and inviting with every possible amenity one could need. A top notch quintisential Maine retreat, we will definitely be back!

This is long over due! We've been staying (family of 4) at The Roost every year for the past three years and Shirley and Dave are simply great hosts. Their home and rooms are beautiful, cozy and clean. Breakfast is included, tasty and filling. We'll be back again, same time, next year.

What a pleasant stay! Shirley and Dave were great, and helpful. The breakfasts were delicious (even with my allergy restrictions). Our room was clean and cozy. They even arranged a picturesque snow storm for us! 😉
