What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise Dawn Ranch for its beautiful grounds, luxurious and rejuvenating atmosphere, and convenient location near downtown Guerneville with private river access and amenities like kayaks. However, some guests found certain accommodations, particularly those in "The Grove" area, to be less desirable, and others experienced issues with service, including unresponsive staff and limited dinner options at the Lodge restaurant on certain nights.

3.5% mandatory"kitchen appreciation fees" tip ?? On top of mandatory 20% service charge. Put your real price with an added 3.5% on the menu then instead of moving to mandatory fees. That is legal but dishonest

This property is marketed as a luxury resort, but the reality falls well short of the expectations set by its website. The spa amenities were especially disappointing. There are no true locker rooms, only one shower, and a very small steam room. The cabins are tiny, poorly maintained, and our cabin had tons of bugs throughout the interior. At the Lodge restaurant, the bartenders seemed inexperienced. He made me an Old Fashioned using a cocktail shaker! The property also advertises house-made pastries at breakfast, but none were available during our visit. The outdoor amenities are limited for the number of guests on the property. There are only two small fire pits serving all of the cabins, and there are no convenient poolside restrooms; the nearest bathroom requires walking inside the bar. Access to the river involves navigating a set of stairs, which may be difficult for some guests. The only positive experience was the two men at the Boathouse bar. They made us a few smash burgers which were delicious and perfectly seasoned. Overall, this is not a luxury experience and is not worth the premium price tag.

This place is something special. We loved sitting on the dock on the Russian River. So peaceful and unhurried. Our room was comfortable and spacious, exactly what we needed to unwind. And the staff were warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, going out of their way to make us feel at home and assist with anything we needed. We'll absolutely be back.

Such a gorgeous spot with wonderful amenities and very friendly and helpful service. I wish we could’ve spent more time there. We particularly appreciated the kayaks, the beachfront, the beautiful lawns and trees, and all the room to stretch out. The whole region is quite captivating. Definitely recommend.

We loved Dawn Ranch and the glamping experience was very cozy. Loved the addition of electric blankets for the cold June nights. That said, the loud generator from Safeway (which is adjacent to this side of the resort) made it hard to sleep the first two nights. (Very loud cyclical noise, which was hard to block out even with with ear plugs.) for some reason, our last night it was blissfully off and we slept so well!

Was a little apprehensive staying at Dawn Ranch after the odd negative review but I shouldn’t have been - it’s a beautiful place! Rooms: I stayed in the meadow chalet - definitely one of the more premium rooms but spacious and comfortable! Bathroom was maybe a tad scuffed but loved the Le Labo toiletries. Slightly lacking in natural light because of all the trees at the windows. but cosy at night. Overall, was very happy and comfortable Property: Truly gorgeous property. Beautiful redwoods and trees (esp the pool setting) and it really felt like an escape. The Lodge restaurant was fantastic - they were able to accommodate my dietaries for a tasting menu dinner, and it was fantastic. The yoga classes were so so wonderful - you can check in advance what days they’re running before your stay to make sure you can join. I had read reviews before I went so there were no negative surprises - a couple of things to be aware of: - WiFi is very spotty - don’t expect to be able to take zoom calls! - Likely you need to book the spa and restaurant in advance if going during busy dates - Breakfast was more like 4 vs 5 star standard - the menu only had 3 items Overall, was a gorgeous trip and I truly hope to return!
