Dawn Ranch hosted our women's yoga retreat in 2025 and it was everything we could have imagined. Beautiful location, luxurious lodgings, gourmet food, relaxing spa, immaculate hosting by the event staff and the restaurant staff. We laughed, we ate, we enjoyed! Thank you, Dawn Ranch!

Dawn ranch has been on my list of places to visit for years so I was excited to come here for my partners birthday. It is in a very beautiful location. However, for the price the rooms are not great. It’s not just that they are small, that’s totally fine. They are poorly put together and not maintained. The fridge in our room was broken. The bathroom lock did not work and so the door could not be closed because it is a sliding door and appears to be on a decline because it slides itself open. Additionally - there is no fan and the window was broken and would not stay opened. So when you or your partner go #2 you’re just gonna have to leave the room or smell it for a while 😬 Also walls are very thin, you can hear everything your neighbors do. I could hear my neighbors alarm in the morning and every step they take. When you close the front door the whole cabin shakes because the walls are so thin. AC/heater is directly above the bed, loud, and the light put out by it is extremely bright. So you will want to turn it off at night. Also too bad we couldn’t open our window to cool things down since that was broken 😂 There are other things that were just not well thought out. Like no hooks near the shower for your towels. Limited surfaces to put things on. The only counter spaces offered were completely occupied by the tea kettle and some wine and wine glasses (for sale, not complimentary) I also noticed that they only left two bath towels (one per person) which felt a little cheap especially since we were there multiple nights. Hotels usually leave some backup towels out of consideration for guests. Only one wash cloth provided for the two of us. No q tips or cotton balls provided. River access, the saltwater pool, and kayaks are unavailable in the off season. This was not mentioned at booking or online. Spa entry, massages and yoga classes were fully booked out for the weekend already when I arrived on Friday- so just a heads up you need to book those in advance. Their online reservation system is not user friendly, you can’t just view a calendar of things. You have to click on each activity then click through. Front desk struggled when helping me too. But also everything was already booked. Breakfast food was very tasty but the coffee bar was awful. The baristas had a terrible attitude. They made my drink with milk instead of almond milk so I brought it back and asked it to be remade and the barista claimed that he used oat milk… which is still not what I ordered? He offered to remake it which I thought was nice but then realized he was being malicious because the drink he made to replace it was absolutely disgustingly sweet. There was one food-runner with short brown hair and glasses that was really kind and apologized for what happened on behalf of their coworker. Overall it wasnt the worst place I’ve stayed, but not luxury at all and not worth the $500 a night.

Stayed at Dawn Ranch and honestly, it was such a good experience from start to finish. Check-in was smooth and effortless—no stress at all. The room? Super cozy. I loved the heater (perfect for the chilly weather), hot shower was on point, and the pillows were actually comfortable—not those flat hotel ones. The spa is a must try. Very relaxing vibe. I got the relaxing massage and it was worth it. The therapist was really accommodating and focused on my problem area (my back), which I appreciated a lot. They even served tea after, plus access to the sauna—felt like a full reset. Staff overall were friendly and very accommodating, which made the whole stay even better. Dinner at the restaurant was amazing—honestly 5-star quality. Elegant flavors, well presented, and the servers were fantastic. You can tell they really take care of you. Definitely a place I’d come back to.

Dawn ranch is a beautiful resort, the scenery alone was stunning, there were some inconsistencies with price vs what we got did not really match for me personally. When we came the weather was terrible which meant we couldn’t really get all of the experiences we were hoping but that can not be controlled and we were ready to make the best of it. We ate at the lodge for dinner & brunch and it was spectacular both times, the service was great. We also got couples massages at the spa which were amazing, the service and the spa were top notch. There were a few items that were not up to the same standards. When I pay $600 for a single night at a resort not including the $300 spent at the lodge and the $550 at the spa I expect an immaculate room and experience. The room had ants, we did not bring any food or drinks other than water and wine into the room so I was surprised when the couple ants we saw when we first entered the room turned into a full blown invasion by the time we woke up, they were in our bags, my purse and on our clothes that were wet from the rain. Definitely not a $600 for a single night experience. Also when we arrived all the blinds were open to show the beautiful surroundings, well when we closed the blinds one set of blinds fell off the wall which was surprising, we put them back up and moved on but still shocking. Also there was a stain on the couch in the room and a stain on the wall near the coffee bar which just didn’t seem like it should be expected considering the price of the room. Also the hot tube was closed during our stay which is unfortunate. I did message the front desk about all of these issues when we woke up and found the ant issue and received no response. Ultimately it’s a gorgeous property with an amazing spa and restaurant and maybe if we went with better weather the experience would have been better.

Great weekend getaway from SF. Stayed in a bungalow — clean, well done, no complaints. Took a quick drive to Armstrong Redwoods which was worth it. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent and my girlfriend ate about 6 smores by the fire so make of that what you will. Service was great throughout. Only one night but already planning our return — she's got her eye on the spa. Highly recommend.

We had a nice time at Dawn Ranch and the property is beautiful but I have to be honest that we had booked it with the expectation that there was more value. - Over our two night stay there were very few every events on the property. Within our check-in and check-out window there were just s’mores and forest bathing, I would have expected at least one yoga session in that window. - There were no hooks to put jackets on within our Meadow chalet which was not ideal. - The shower toiletries are inconveniently right next to the overhead shower so you are trying to avoid them and/or knocking your elbows into them. - Pool area closes very early (6pm) presumably because they have cabins surrounding it. This was a big miss to not have any evening hot tub access. - The worst of it was waking up multiple times to the entire cabin shaking (not exaggerating) due to what we could only assume was our neighbors. I know this is a romantic destination but we did not sign up for that. The first time it happened I googled if there had been an earthquake! All that to say, I’d suggest booking a cabin vs. a chalet if you want to ensure you are paying for an uninterrupted nights sleep. - Not many secluded sitting areas on the property. It would be good if they had chairs or hammocks in more places on the grounds, such as the meadow area so folks could relax and read during the morning and daytime. - Parking was easy for us but imagine that can be tough in the summer. - Mattress and bedding were extremely comfortable. I want to reiterate again that the grounds and hotel are gorgeous and the staff we interacted with were all friendly. The three stars are primarily due to missed opportunities, which oftentimes felt obvious to us, to truly give a 4 star experience when they are selling a 4 star experience online.

Day Pass: don’t waste your money on a day pass at Dawn Ranch- I purchased two, paid $220 for Friday, 3/27/26. I was shocked to see the low level amenities that came with this price. They gave us towels. There was a small swimming pool heated to 80 degrees next to the noisy River Road highway. There was a concrete “hot tub” heated to 101 degrees. That was it. No shower to take the chlorine off the skin, no lotion for the skin, not even Spa water. Very disappointed, I felt ripped off. You may get more bank for your money in the summer months once they open the access to the river. In the meantime, save yourself $220 and go to a real Spa. Dawn Ranch is a venue center not a Spa. They have lots of weddings and events and they have a “spa” treatment menu that is overpriced given that their spa grounds are basic. For the price, you’re better off going to a real, dedicated Spa.
