Duval Street and the Old Town streets around it sell a mix of stuff that tells you a lot about Key West. Some of it’s tourist junk, some of it’s real local business, and gay shops are in there too. Key West has been a gay destination for so long that the merchandise shows it.
T-shirts and Key West kitsch
There's a lot of it. Duval Street has T-shirt shops, souvenir stores, and gift shops everywhere. Quality is all over the place. Some just sell the usual tourist crap with a Key West logo. Others have specifically gay-themed merchandise, pride flags, and Key West-branded items that are a step up from generic souvenirs. If you want a memento that actually says "Key West" instead of "any Florida beach town," you can find them. Just walk past the duds.
Gay-specific retail
A few shops on and near Duval are openly gay-owned or carry gay-specific merchandise. You’ll see more variety during event weeks — pop-up stalls and extra vendors show up during Fantasy Fest and Bear Week, selling things for those crowds. Year-round, the selection is smaller, but it's still there.
Beyond souvenirs
Key West has a small but real independent retail scene, away from the souvenir shops. You’ll find local art galleries, bookshops, and craft stores scattered through Old Town. Artists have come to the island for a long time, and you see that in some of what's for sale. It’s worth exploring the side streets off Duval if you want something besides T-shirts.

Practical notes
Old Town shopping is easy to walk. Most shops open mid-morning and stay open through the evening. During event weeks, hours are later. Prices are tourist-area prices — not crazy expensive, but don't expect bargains.
