The Center (GLCC of Southern Nevada)

The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, known as The Center, is the primary LGBTQ+ community organization in Las Vegas, serving the city's permanent residential queer population alongside visitors who need support or connection. The Maryland Parkway address is in downtown Las Vegas, accessible from both the Strip and the Fruit Loop area, and the Centre operates a comprehensive programme of social services: counselling, HIV/STI testing, PrEP access, youth programming for LGBTQ+ young people, senior services, support groups, and social events. The Centre is the institutional anchor of Las Vegas's residential gay community — the part of the city that exists separately from the visitor economy and that has its own organizations, relationships, and community culture. For visitors to Las Vegas who need health services — HIV testing, PrEP, STI screening — The Center is the appropriate resource. The organisation also runs the annual Las Vegas Pride events and serves as the coordination point for LGBTQ+ community organizing in Nevada. The state of Nevada has strong LGBTQ+ legal protections, and The Center has been part of the advocacy infrastructure that produced and defends those protections.
