What reviewers say

Visitors frequently praise Ogunquit Beach for its beauty, cleanliness, and plentiful sand, often describing it as magical. A common point of concern is the tide, which can significantly reduce the available beach space at high tide, though it also recedes quickly. Parking is generally available but can be inconvenient due to an app requirement.

About this place Ogunquit Beach

Ogunquit Beach, Maine, is a chill, long-time favorite for LGBTQ+ beachgoers.

You’ll find the gay-friendly section just past the volleyball nets. It’s a low-key spot for sunbathing and chatting, and it gets busy on warm weekends. No loud music or big parties, just people hanging out.

The town of Ogunquit has always been good to LGBTQ+ visitors, and that goes far beyond the sand. There are plenty of shops, galleries, and restaurants in town, all within walking distance of the beach. You can find gay bars and events happening year-round, too, so there’s always something going on after dark.

It’s a straightforward choice for gay travelers: a specific beach area, plus a town that clearly wants you there.

The town's LGBTQ+ visitors have long gravitated to the northern part of the beach, toward the footbridge over the Ogunquit River, which serves as the informal gay section and a daytime social hub in summer.

Idelic Maine beach, watch for tide information before you go as high tide comes up so high that there's not much beach left, good news is the tide goes out as fast as it comes in, plentiful parking albeit A.P.I.T.A. parking app, shops with snacks, ice cream etc close by, clean restrooms and generally friendly and happy beach goers.
