Holiday Inn Express San Diego Downtown, an IHG Hotel

The location is great, the hotel is very old, and the staff isn't friendly, but for the price and location it's a good option.

Very disappointing stay and far below expectations. The photos online were misleading and did not reflect the actual condition of the hotel. The first room was not what I booked, smelled heavily of pets, and had stained carpet. Getting a room change was difficult because the hotel was sold out. The second room smelled strongly of smoke, had a dirty bathroom, stained floors, and even food left behind. The third room was no better and again smelled heavily of pets. The smoke smell made it hard to sleep and breathe, and the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel were unacceptable. To make matters worse, I was awakened by construction inside the hotel that was never disclosed during booking. The pool was also unavailable due to construction, which was disappointing since amenities like this influenced my decision to stay here. The breakfast was okay, but it did not make up for the poor conditions and lack of communication. Overall, this was a frustrating and unpleasant experience, and I would not stay here again.

The hotel had a nice atmosphere and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean, but I found it a bit smaller than expected and the noise from the hallway was a little disruptive at times. Overall, it was a decent stay, just not quite what I was hoping for.

Booked a King Suite Room. There are 2 TV'S both of them are not smart tv so if you have extra google chromecast or Roku, bring it. There is a slight old smell when you enter the room. You have to pay for the parking its 38 a day. Breakfast is good specially the pancake.

One of the Best Breakfasts on the West Coast I only stayed overnight and headed straight to the buffet breakfast early the next morning. It was truly one of the best buffet experiences I’ve had on the West Coast. While I unfortunately didn't capture any photos, everything from the freshly brewed coffee and yogurts to the pancakes, scrambled eggs, and sausages was perfect. Ideally located in the heart of downtown, this hotel and its breakfast are hard to beat! Plus! Bottled waters are free & rooms are clean.

Charged us early check-in fee without telling us there is an early check-in fee. The manager said that he/she is sure that every customer was told that there is an early check-in fee but there were two groups before us when we checked in and neither of them were informed too.

Wow, what an amazing hotel experience! The views were stunning, and the staff went out of their way to make our stay special. From the comfy beds to the great location, I can't wait to come back!

Everything about this hotel was an awful experience. To start off, I was supposed to be in a Suite but was put in a basic room. When inquiring at the front desk, all the clerk would tell me was that was the room I was supposed to be in. Despite me having a copy of the summary which showed I had a suite reserved. The booking agency tried multiple times calling the hotel but they would never answer the phone. From there the hotel is very dated and in dire need of a refresh. The rooms and the bathrooms in particular are very small. I'm guessing that's why their website doesn't show any pictures of the bathroom. From there the curtains in the room are barely hanging on the wall and do not completely block all of the morning light. Then, while not the hotel's fault, there is a building being built right across the road. This makes for a 6 am wake up call every morning when they start work each day. The location is pretty bad as it's at the top of some pretty steep hills. Don't try walking from the bus/trolley stop with your luggage. All in all a very poor facility and even worse customer service. Avoid this hotel if you have any choice in the matter.

Good hotel, decent location with an excellent morning breakfast.

We had a clean spacious room with great water pressure. There were a variety of breakfast items (though I wish there were bananas!) and super helpful front desk. We were able to check in early upon request and Hope was incredibly kind. The area the hotel is in has a mixed vibe and we felt unsafe walking around at night. Otherwise, great stay!
