Sierra Pelona Motel

Took a family trip and wanted to stay near Vasquez Rocks for the biking and rock-seeing activities. The manager at Sierra Pelona Motel was super friendly and helpful. Had a nice stay. Rooms are simple and clean. Got good directions to other local attractions and places to eat. Fun to be in the rooms featured in so many TV shows and movies!

Great price & Excellent location for theme parks! Staff is amazing and friendly, ever so helpful. Rooms are clean and comfortable, just a little outdated. I have to ask - Why can’t Troy Boy be dead man #9 in one of the movies??

Drove by this property to check it out, was not impressed. Trees and hedges overgrown, shabby appearance, paint peeling on building. Rude groundskeeper crept up on me and grilled me about what I was doing there. I was going to give them some business, but after this bizarre encounter I would be concerned about staff. I have never been accosted at a Hyatt or Marriott property. Save yourself the disappointment, avoid this place like the plague, bed bugs, or whatever!

The rooms are simple, vintage, and clean. A little shabby-chic, a little time capsule. The cost reminds you that authenticity doesn’t have to come with a luxury price tag. The reception desk deserves its own movie: old school jazz, dark wood furniture aged by decades of stories, and a bell that probably rang when Reagan was president. But the true soul of Sierra Pelona isn’t in the props — it’s in the people. The manager is thoughtful and caring, yet spontaneous and fun guy — the kind of person who restores your faith in humanity. When I was leaving, I asked what I could do to thank him, and he shared his dream: “I wanna be in a movie”. So here’s my message to every director and producer out there: come meet him! You’ll find a character no casting call could ever invent. Bottom line: Sierra Pelona Motel is a living relic of the 1980s — at the crossroads of Hollywood nostalgia and desert solitude. If you visit the area, it’s absolutely worth checking out.

Rustic motel in a beautiful rural setting, comfortable bed, cold refrigerator, microwave, TV and hot shower. The manager was welcoming and check in/out process was smooth.

Amazing spot! Troy was such a nice and accommodating host. We are PCT hikers and he was kind enough to pick us up and drop us off from the trail. Simple quiet clean rooms for a very reasonable price!

Troy is a gem, and will make sure you're taken care of. My flights were delayed and would've otherwise left my girlfriend after dark, but he picked her up from the PCT trailhead and got her situated before I could make it.

This is a vintage hotel they have a refrigerator and a microwave but the great part about this vantage property is it really takes you back in time don't expect a hotel motel experience from this era when you go expect an actual room key and expect to step back in time I love vintage property the manager who checked me in and checked me out was very friendly and treated me great I would really recommend this property to anybody who wants something different cuz you'll definitely get it there it was a great day for me I hope you go you enjoy it as well just be ready it's like stepping back into the 1920s I loved every second of it rim was very clean bed was comfortable room amenities all worked great no problem with that just make sure you bring all your stuff you need to charge your electronics because there's really not a lot of plugs for that and whatnot but other than that it was a great time the grounds were fun too they're sitting outside under trees which is nice it's real quiet yes step back in time I'll definitely be going back!
