Seattle Pride
About This Event
Seattle Pride traces back to Gay Pride Week on 24 to 30 June 1974, which began as a picnic and a street dance. Today the downtown parade on the last Sunday of June is one of the biggest on the West Coast and is commonly cited at 300,000 or more spectators. That is a long-standing estimate, not a measured count. The nonprofit Seattle Pride runs the parade.
The parade runs along 4th Avenue from Union Street to Denny Way. In 2026 the pre-show started at 10am at Westlake Park and the parade stepped off at 11am. It is free, and you can follow it straight to Seattle Center, where PrideFest runs from noon to 8pm the same day with vendors, food and three stages, also free. The night before, a separate PrideFest takes over Capitol Hill, the city's gay neighbourhood around Broadway, and that is where the bars are busiest all weekend.
Late June is usually Seattle's dry season, but bring layers for the evening. The Link light rail runs from the airport to downtown and Capitol Hill, which beats driving on parade day. Downtown hotels are expensive that weekend, so book early or stay near a light rail stop. The organization has been short of money: in 2025 it reported a gap of about $350,000 in a $1.5 million budget after corporate sponsors pulled back, and it cut ties with some, including Boeing, while Alaska Airlines and Starbucks stayed on.
The last parade was on 28 June 2026 under the theme 'Rally', with Deaunte Damper as grand marshal; the 2025 theme was 'Louder'. The 2027 dates hadn't been announced when we checked; the parade traditionally falls on the last Sunday of June.
