I loved it. Just utilize all resources. Get on your feet and get out of there and get on your own. I don’t like that won’t let you eat there during lunch. U can only eat there in morning and at evening. But other than that it was clean and helpful

Unless you have your child(ren) with you, you will be redirected to their daily hotline to check in, which they don't do anything but mark in their system that you called for shelter, for them to tell you, that your on the list to be called if you call in for shelter, which you don't get a call back, you and your children,will still be on the street or going from pillow to post, unless you do the nightly "wheels for women" or whichever nightly, but have to be gone in the morning, as all the case workers give you are resources that 9 times out of 10, you have or are already doing or have called those same resources to still get the redirect or run around, but not actually assisted with getting or being placed anywhere for who knows how long.

Mary's Place was okay for me

We had an amazing time starting out. We had been homeless for a long time especially in the winter I called constantly as soon as the line was open, the lady was amazing I talked to every morning to try to get beds for our family of five. But after working hard doing everything required things started to go down hill. For ONE literally the food besides Saturday and Sunday dinners when dominos or ezekells chicken donates is all OLD FOOD. I was ALWAYS sick especially cause I have a severe mold allergy. It got to the point I couldn't eat, ended up in the hospital three times being admitted for malnutrition. And they also couldn't arrange for other families to be able to make their own meals cause certain families were ALWAYS taking over the ONLY area to prepare meals. When we told staff about not ever being able to make our own meals nothing was ever solved to make sure other families were able to prepare their own meals instead of it ALWAYS being certain families that took over the area all day long. Not to mention our food was always getting stolen or taken out of the fridge and freezer and left to spoil on the counter staff never did anything about it or helped replace the food, especially with how expensive Seattle prices are for food. Once we got approved for section 8 housing, we searched hard for a place but once 6 weeks hit we were threatened to be kicked out several times even though we didn't have a home yet. They kept telling us we have 48 hrs to get out cause our room was going to another family even though WE DIDN'T HAVE A PLACE TO GO! we managed to stay two more weeks because we had to BEG THEM. but in the end we were kicked out of the shelter just because we had a section 8 voucher but not a place to live just yet! So we were on the streets again with three kids 3,4&7. My mom could only allow us to stay for three nights cause she is lives in a Seattle housing for elderly that is a studio apartment with 6 people. She was getting threatened by housing to be kicked out cause she let us stay with her a few nights which ended up being a week before I was hospitalized from malnutrition from the shelter. Marys place has some amazing staff but the head people are only in it for the profit. To kick a family out just cause they finally got section 8 but couldn't find a place in their time frame is not okay and defeats the purpose of Marys place. And then to add to our struggle after being kicked back on to the streets, they PROMISED us we would receive help once we found a place with furniture kitchen needs bedding everything but once we found a place said "we ran out of funding for that help"!!! When we signed up for the program they told us they never run out of being able to help make our new home a home cause they work with several stores and companies that guarantee helping families leaving Marys place to their new home anything they need. It'd be gift cards or furniture stores donating and delivery to the home. The only thing they gave us was we had to apply to Goodwill and receive a $100 voucher to help us with furniture bedding and kitchen/bathroom needs. We only were able to afford blankets and a few dishes with it. They also allow drug addicts to stay and help them even though they are literally smoking fentanyl and meth in the rooms, they never got kicked out. when you get to Marys place you start out on a floor with rooms with just curtains which cool it's a place to sleep, but the first week being therein the middle of the night literally 1am, we get worked up to be moved to another floor to a room with a door AMAZING!until they woke up my kids made us pack everything and then made us wait until 3-4amto actually move to that room. Someone had been kicked out for"SMOKING DRUGS IN THAT ROOM!"They said they cleaned it but literally we were sick for a month after being in that room not to mention there was spit wads on the ceiling and duck tape cover the fire alarms and smoke detectors. When inspection came we were blamed forTHATand whenwe told them It was like that when we got the room they didn't believe

The staff are so friendly and I was happy to donate clothes there!
