About this place Wayward Coffeehouse

Wayward Coffeehouse has been a neighborhood fixture in Seattle’s Roosevelt/U-District since 2005. It’s the kind of independent spot where you can settle in for hours without anybody hassling you.

Think big communal tables, comfy chairs, and a vibe that feels more like a friend’s living room than a Starbucks. Students and creative types seem to make up most of the crowd.

The menu sticks to the basics: organic, Fair Trade, shade-grown coffee is the main event. They also carry local pastries, cookies, and bagels. If you need more than a snack, look for the vegetarian and vegan sandwiches and soups.

Seattle has a strong LGBTQ+ community, and Wayward is one of those places where everyone feels welcome. It’s got a bit of a geek-friendly, laid-back thing going on, making it a good spot for anyone after decent coffee and some genuine hospitality. Check their site for hours and any seasonal specials.

I don’t get to come here often but when I do the food and service is always great, and brightens my day!

Such a gem! The staff alone is worth the visit. Javier was an awesome waiter. Helped pick the best food and even helped my boyfriend practice Spanish and gave us recommendations for camping. Truly such a lovely and positive human being. The food was amazing. Great vegan food. 10/10 experience.

VEGANS come here! The whole menu is vegan and there is a giant spread to choose from for both brunch and dinner. So many options and different types of food. The service is great, and the people who work here husssstle, one server and helper dude (?), and a ton of takeout/to go orders. These guys were working hard and never stopped working. Best vegan salmon ever, I didn’t know vegan food could taste like this ✨ Let’s keep this place alive!

I’ve been eating at Wayward Vegan for 15 years. The new owners destroyed a true Seattle gem. There was a noticeable drop in quality when the new owners took over and now “The Wayward” is no longer a safe spot for people with allergies to animal products to eat or for vegans concerned with cross contamination.

It's my favorite plant based restaurant and the best perk about living near Roosevelt.

no longer a vegan restaurant, so disappointing :( and the vegan menu items are significantly less yummy/high quality than they used to be. not to mention the fact it was one of the only places in town I didn’t have to worry about cross contamination. trying to expand your audience to meat eaters will only lose you the audience you have/had! so sad, after years I will not be coming back. :/
