About this place info@manyvoices.org

Many Voices is a church movement in Washington, DC, focused on Black LGBTQ+ justice and social equality. You’ll find it on Dumbarton Street in the city's northwest. This group built a deliberate safe space, drawing on the Black church tradition while keeping LGBTQ+ inclusion at its core. Everyone's welcome, no matter their gender identity or sexual orientation. They’re big on kindness, justice, and love for anyone who walks through their doors, whatever their gender, class, or sexuality. As an LGBTQ+ organization, it’s a spot for people to meet, find spiritual connection, and get involved in activism within a Black-centered, queer-affirming setting. DC has plenty of LGBTQ+ groups and gathering places, but Many Voices is different, marrying religious tradition with progressive ideas. If you’re in Washington and looking for LGBTQ+ community spaces that put Black voices and experiences first, you can find them at manyvoices.org or send an email. This isn't a nightlife spot; it’s for people seeking real community, spiritual practice, and social justice work, which makes it a worthwhile stop if you’re interested in more than just entertainment.

This sanctuary seems to be a place for weary spirits. Maybe I should give it a try.

My family, especially my husband, is incredibly grateful to this church. It has been nothing but the word of God speaking to us. Thank you so much for everything; we are truly grateful from the bottom of our hearts for the rest of our lives.

We were there in December and relatives took us to see 'A Celtic Christmas'. It is a well preserved 175 year old church that is now used for arts and entertainment as well as for church services. The fiddler in the show was beyond fantastic and made up for the narrator in the center of the stage who was not close enough to the microphone and many in the audience struggled to hear him. The facility was nice, clean, and well decorated for Christmas. One of the negatives regarding the facility was parking but that is true to many places built in DC long before Henry Ford even had a dream about cars. Fortunately there was a youngin in the group who let us off in front, parked the car on a street and then hoofed it back several blocks to meet up with us. The other negative was that the temperature inside was set way to high even for us old folks. The concert was mellow and slow moving and thus the excessive heat inside put many a nearby patron to sleep. It is nice to see old churches like this succeed and stay open even if they have lost some of their original values.

Neighborhood gem of old school churches. Feels far off the beaten path just steps from Wisconsin Ave.
