**The Lafayette at The Hay-Adams** ⭐⭐⭐ **(3/5 stars)** My overall experience at The Lafayette started on a very high note. Everything looked extremely clean, and the hospitality from the staff and hostess was top-notch—incredibly nice, attentive, and they catered to all my needs. The food was great. Every bite of the steak was flavorful, and the açai bowl was a work of art. The French toast, omelets, and Saratoga water all felt like true luxury. It definitely had the makings of a great power breakfast. However, when you are paying high-end prices for a fine-dining experience and food, flies are simply not acceptable. Flies landed on my food, which was extremely annoying. The staff was very attentive and moved me to another table, but the same issue occurred there. Little flies from the flowers kept getting onto my food, forcing me to swat them away constantly while I tried to eat. For a high-end restaurant with this reputation, this is a major 'no-no.' I couldn't enjoy my meal 100% because I had to constantly keep an eye on my plates. Because I was paying high-end money and expect that level of environment, I have to give them 3 stars out of 5. It was very disappointing that such a beautiful place had this kind of issue. Would I eat here again? For brunch, probably not. I would be hesitant even for dinner time, because there's no point in going if you have to deal with flies.

I had dinner here with my wife Miriam last Tuesday for an early Father's Day gift. This restaurant compares to many fine dining restaurants in Paris with its old world charm and atmosphere. The hotel itself is historic and have hosted many dignitaries throughout since it opened. Our server staff was polite, and professional and carved our Tomahawk steak perfectly. Chelsea, hotel director and our hostess, was always checking on us and lovely. I have been to some of the finest restaurants in New York, Paris, London, Rome, Florence, Venice, Singapore and many other places and The Lafayette will hold its own amongst these Michelin star locations. They use real silverware, crystal and linen tablecloth. The one detail I really appreciated was the perfectly clear ice cube in my Macallan glass. That was first class. Since the location is just across the street from the White House, you will see the rich and powerful everywhere you look. Just last night there were two US Senators drinking at the bar (with their secret service). I highly recommend it for a haute cuisine and formal dining experience. Well done Lafayette and Bon Appetit.

A wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was quiet, elegant, and perfect for a relaxed evening. The live piano music added a sophisticated touch and created the ideal backdrop for conversation without being intrusive. The food was fantastic, beautifully presented, expertly prepared, and full of flavor.

Dinner was delicious & filling. I love that they compose a very balanced nutrition dish with protein & nice portions of veggies. The more veggies the better & it shows I love for their guests. Nourish people with tasty & healthy portions. I will definitely be back soon. Highly recommend the chicken & the Dover sole options the lasagna while beautiful mushrooms don’t go with lasagna but that’s a preference on my end. other than that it’s a nice lasagna but I would prefer to get the chicken dish. Service was absolutely fantastic, I was asking a lot of questions because of the lack of photos of the food online. More foodies need to come here & take some pics of the food.
