Last verified: October 2026. Lima has no gay hotel. We could not find a single gay-owned, men-only or clothing-optional hotel or guesthouse open in the city in 2026. The places older guides called "LGBTQ-focused" turned out to be ordinary mainstream hotels, or they have dropped out of our listings. The scene itself is small and busiest at weekends. ValeTodo Downtown, on Pasaje Los Pinos beside Parque Kennedy in Miraflores, is the main club. Barranco is the arty second district and Lince has a cheap local cluster. Saunas are spread from Surquillo to Callao, and one men-only sauna was opened by a gay couple. So the job is choosing a mainstream hotel you can walk home to at 4 am. This guide covers which blocks of Miraflores do that best and when Barranco makes sense. It explains why Lince and the historic centre only suit certain trips, and how the 18% IGV hotel tax exemption works. It also covers the Pride march, airport and night transport, and the dating-app robberies that keep turning up in the Lima news.

Where to sleep, in real minutes

Lima has no gay street, so the walkable zone is built around the one place that pulls a crowd most weekends. That is ValeTodo Downtown on Pasaje Los Pinos, a short pedestrian lane off the south side of Parque Kennedy. Recent listings give its address as number 168 or 172. Nearby are Open Deck Cruise Cafe at Av. La Paz 580 (the warm-up bar, 5–6 min east), the pisco bars of Pasaje San Ramón, and the Larco end of Miraflores down towards Larcomar. Older guides send you on to Legendaris after ValeTodo, but it has closed for good. Take the box bounded by Av. José Pardo and Av. Ricardo Palma to the north, Av. Diez Canseco and Calle Alcanfores to the east, the Malecón to the south and Av. Grau to the west. Everything in it is 10 minutes' walk or less from the club. Miraflores is flat, so the times below are honest. The streets round the park, Av. Larco and Diagonal stay lit late, with people, food carts and patrols by the district's own security service, the Serenazgo.

The rest of the scene is out of walking range. Barranco is about 3 km south: a 10–15 minute taxi, or a 40-minute walk along the cliff that you should not do at 3 am. The Lince cluster is 4 km north. The historic centre, and the saunas in Lince, San Borja and Callao, are taxi trips from anywhere.

Parque Kennedy and the Larco blocks

The closest beds to ValeTodo are on Av. 28 de Julio, Calle Bolívar and Calle Alcanfores. Hotel Equo at Av. 28 de Julio 245 is 4–6 min from the club. It is about 60 m from Lion Sauna & Spa, which is a mainstream steam-and-massage place, not a gay sauna. qema Lima (Alcanfores 329, 5–7 min) and Naia (Alcanfores 465, 5–7 min, 4.3 from over 1,700 reviews) are also 1–4 min from Open Deck. Radisson RED at Calle Bolívar 210 is 6–8 min away, with a rooftop bar and the chain's standard equality policy. Apart Hotel San Martín (Calle San Martín 598, 6–8 min) gives you a kitchen for a longer stay. Hotel Peruvian Miraflores on Calle Libertad is only 4–6 min away, but its rating of 3.2 from 41 reviews is a warning.

On Friday and Saturday nights, rooms facing Av. 28 de Julio, Diagonal and the park hear traffic, buskers and people leaving the clubs until about 5 am, so ask for an interior room. At 3 am these streets are as safe as Lima gets. The realistic risk is someone snatching your phone, so keep it in a front pocket on the walk.

North of the park: Alcanfores, Diez Canseco and Av. Grau

A few blocks north the streets turn residential and quiet. Hostal El Patio at Av. Ernesto Diez Canseco 341 is 6–8 min from ValeTodo and 1–3 min from Open Deck. It is a small inn round a planted courtyard. One gay listings site now shows it under the Ayenda brand, so check which name you are booking. Tierra Viva Miraflores Centro (Alcanfores 162, 6–8 min, 4.7) is the dependable Peruvian chain option. La Casa del Viajero at Calle Schell 589 (8–10 min) is budget to mid-range. West of the park, Hotel Antigua Miraflores at Av. Grau 350 (8–10 min) is an early-20th-century mansion built round courtyards. Andesmar at Av. Grau 466 (7–9 min) is the modern alternative. Further west, qp Hotels on Jorge Chávez (12–14 min) is well reviewed, but getting there means crossing Av. Arequipa into residential streets that are empty late at night.

The Surquillo edge, near Assia

If the sauna matters more than the club, sleep in the north-east corner of Miraflores. Assia Sauna and Spa is at Jr. Gonzales Prada 433, just over the district line in Surquillo. The Secret Garden Hostel (Narciso de la Colina 183) and Centro by Casa Andina (Av. Petit Thouars 5444) are both 5–7 min from Assia and 10–13 min from ValeTodo. Hostel Prada at González Prada 225 is a few minutes' walk from the sauna and rates 4.8. Surquillo begins at the Vía Expresa. Stick to the main avenues between your hotel and the sauna, because the backstreets beyond are not where you want to be lost at 2 am.

The Malecón

The JW Marriott Lima at Malecón de la Reserva 615, next to Larcomar, is 5–7 min from ValeTodo up Av. Larco. It is the only true luxury hotel within walking range of the club. The Belmond Miraflores Park, further along the cliff, is about 20 min on foot. That walk follows a park path that is pleasant at sunset and deserted at 3 am, so take a car. The DoubleTree El Pardo at Independencia 141 is 9–11 min north of the club and a calmer business-hotel choice.

Barranco

Barranco is where Lima goes out when it does not specifically want a gay club. There are bars along Av. Grau and round the main park, the Puente de los Suspiros, and Espacio Culpa on Av. Pedro de Osma, a queer bar and cultural space with drag and DJ nights. Viajero Lima Barranco (Av. Grau 428, formerly Kokopelli, 4.8 from over 2,100 reviews) is 4–6 min from the Grau bars. Lima Wari (Av. Grau 723) is 9–11 min away. Hotel B (Sáenz Peña 204, a restored Belle Époque house full of Peruvian art) is 11–13 min, and Andara (Av. San Martín 453) 13–15 min. Hotel Park Suites on Medrano Silva sits on the Miraflores side, 25 min from both, which is the worst of both worlds. At weekends central Barranco stays busy until late. The stairs down to the beach (Bajada de Baños) and the blocks east of Av. Grau go quiet and dark. ValeTodo is a 10–15 min taxi booked through an app.

Lince: the cheap local cluster

Lince, between San Isidro and the centre, has the most local end of the scene. That means Andel Karaoke bar at Av. Petit Thouars 2671, Out & Pride on Jr. Tomás Guido, and Sauna 69 VIP on Av. Arenales. Hotel Glamour (Petit Thouars 2599) is 1–2 min from Andel, Hotel Paraiso 2–3 min and Hostal Sueños Lince 2–4 min. All three are basic and have few reviews. Hotel Century Inn is a couples' hotel (hotel para parejas) that also lets rooms by the hour; more on that under booking rules. For a Lince hotel with plenty of good reviews, Hotel Kingdom (4.3 from nearly 2,000) and Hotel Carrera are on the Arenales side, but they are 15+ min from Andel. Lince is quiet and residential after midnight. It is not dangerous, just empty, so book a car on an app.

San Borja, the centre and the rest

San Borja has La Cueva (Av. Aviación 2514, Friday and Saturday only) and Spartakus (Av. Aviación 2983). Las Lomas and Hotel Britania San Borja are 3–5 min from Spartakus and 17–19 min from La Cueva. Nature Hotel & Sauna on Aviación is 9–11 min from La Cueva; despite the name, nothing confirms it is a gay sauna. San Borja suits business trips, not a weekend on the scene.

The historic centre (Cercado) has its own working-class gay circuit: Bar Zepita Barrio Rosa, Sagitario on Av. Garcilaso de la Vega, and the 240Club sauna on Jr. Tarma. Hotel El Plaza on Nicolás de Piérola is close to Plaza San Martín. But the centre empties fast after dark and has the most tourist robberies. Go by day, or by taxi at night, and do not base yourself there. Meliá Lima in San Isidro is a solid chain hotel 4 km from ValeTodo: fine for work, wrong for a scene trip.

Gay-owned, men-only and clothing-optional

We could not verify a single gay-owned, men-only or clothing-optional hotel or guesthouse open in Lima in 2026. Several websites still publish "gay hotel" lists for Lima. Every name on them is a mainstream property that simply welcomes gay guests: JW Marriott, DoubleTree, qp, Casaroma, Lima Wari and so on. One gay listings site has a "men-only hotels" category for Lima with no men-only hotels in it.

The nearest thing to a gay-run, men-only space is Assia Spa for Men in Surquillo. It opened in 2019 under an American-Peruvian gay couple and is men-only. It is a sauna with no rooms, so day entry only; confirm hours and price at the door.

Two gay travel directories list Domeyer Hostel, at Jr. Domeyer 296 in Barranco, as queer-friendly with a mixed gay and lesbian crowd. We could not confirm it is open or under the same management in 2026, and it is not in our listings. Treat it as a lead to check, not a recommendation. Older write-ups described Hotel Prada in Miraflores as LGBTQ-focused. The same address now appears as Hostel Prada, and we found nothing to support the gay label. Second Home Peru and Villa Barranco by Ananay in Barranco have dropped out of our listings. Legendaris, the late-night gay club once on the Miraflores circuit, has closed.

So where do gay visitors actually stay? In Miraflores, at mid-range and international chain hotels within 10 minutes of Parque Kennedy, with Barranco as second choice. In these hotels, a same-sex couple asking for a double bed is routine.

Booking rules that bite

    • The 18% IGV. Peru charges 18% IGV (sales tax) on hotel rooms. Foreign non-residents staying in Peru 60 days or fewer are exempt if they show their passport and immigration entry record at check-in. Many online booking sites show Lima prices without the 18%, with a note that Peruvian residents pay it at the hotel. Check whether your rate includes tax before you compare. Keep your entry record to hand: if you cannot show it, the hotel is entitled to add the 18%. Restaurant and bar bills are taxed either way. Some upmarket hotels also add a service charge; confirm before booking.
    • Visitors. Peruvian hotels register every guest from a passport or DNI (the Peruvian national ID card). Mid-range and chain hotels normally let you bring someone back. Reception will usually ask your guest for ID and may record it or hold it until they leave. Some smaller hostales and most hostels do not allow non-guests in rooms at all, and a few charge an extra-person fee. None of this is anti-gay; the rules apply to everyone. Ask the hotel directly. The best tip: book the room for two guests from the start, so there is no "visitor" conversation at 3 am.
    • Couples' hotels (hoteles para parejas). Lince and the inland districts have couples' hotels such as Hotel Century Inn, which let rooms by the hour as well as overnight. They are discreet and ask fewer questions, which is why locals without a private place use them. They are not built for a week's stay.
    • Deposits and cards. Expect a hold on your card at chain hotels. Small hostales may want cash in soles, so carry some.
    • Hotels with few reviews. Several hotels in our listings have fewer than 50 reviews or no website. Read recent reviews and check photos before paying in advance.

The gay calendar and where to book for it

Lima Pride (Marcha del Orgullo), 2027: date not announced

The 24th Marcha del Orgullo took place on Saturday 27 June 2026. Organisers reported months of permit delays with the Municipalidad de Lima before the route was approved. People gathered from 9 am at Campo de Marte in Jesús María. The march set off at 3 pm along Garcilaso de la Vega, Nicolás de Piérola, Alfonso Ugarte and Guzmán Blanco, then looped back to Campo de Marte for a cultural event. Two stations on the Metropolitano busway, Quilca and España, closed during the march. It is a political march more than a street party.

The march is traditionally held on the last Saturday of June, but the 2027 date had not been announced as of October 2026. Book in Miraflores, not the centre. Campo de Marte is roughly a 20–30 minute app taxi from Parque Kennedy, and the after-parties end up in Miraflores and Barranco, where ValeTodo and the Barranco bars have their biggest nights of the year. Lima has plenty of hotel rooms, so Pride does not fill the city. The Miraflores hotels near the park do fill that weekend, though, so book a month ahead if you want to walk home.

    Other weekends

Lima has no bear week, circuit festival or gay ski week. ValeTodo's big nights are every Friday and Saturday. Open Deck and Espacio Culpa announce their drag nights on their social media pages week by week. One non-gay event to watch: Pope Leo XIV has confirmed a trip that includes Peru, but the dates had not been published as of late October 2026. If the visit falls during your stay, expect central Lima hotels to fill and roads to close.

    Getting back at 3 am

From the airport. All flights moved to the new Jorge Chávez terminal in 2025, and there is no metro or practical city bus to it. Airport Express Lima runs from the terminal to stops in Miraflores near Parque Kennedy and the Malecón. Buses leave roughly hourly from about 7 am to 10 pm and cost about S/15 (US$4) one way; allow 45–70 minutes depending on traffic. The official taxis inside the terminal charged about S/60–70 to Miraflores in 2025, and Uber also picks up at the terminal. For Barranco or Lince you need a taxi or an app. If you land after 10 pm, book an official taxi inside the terminal rather than accepting a ride outside.

From the bars. There is no public transport at 3 am: the Metropolitano busway and the city buses stop long before the clubs close. Use an app. Uber, Cabify, DiDi and InDrive all work in Lima, and the app keeps a record of the trip, which protects you. Do not flag taxis on the street at night, and do not accept a ride from someone a doorman recommends. Off-peak, ValeTodo is 10–15 minutes by car from Barranco, about 15–25 minutes from Lince and 25–35 minutes from the centre.

Walking safety. In Miraflores you can walk the park, Av. Larco, Diagonal, Pasaje Los Pinos, Alcanfores and Diez Canseco at 3 am. Do not walk alone at that hour on the Malecón paths, in the parks along the cliff, or in the residential streets west of Av. Arequipa. In Barranco, stay on Av. Grau and the streets round the main park. In the centre and in Lince, do not walk late; take a car door to door.

Because of crime, Lima and Callao have been under a state of emergency that keeps being renewed. The latest extension runs 60 days from 28 October 2026 and lets the armed forces support the police. In practice you will see more patrols and the odd checkpoint. Carry a photocopy or phone photo of your passport and entry record.

    Health, safety and the law

The law. Same-sex relations are legal in Peru. There is no civil union or marriage, and no national law against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. In practice, Miraflores and Barranco are relaxed about two men holding hands at night. Outside those districts, and in much of the rest of Peru, people are discreet.

App dates. This is the risk that matters. In February 2025 Lima media covered a man police called the "Monstruo del Grindr". He met men on dating apps, drugged them with sedatives and robbed them in rented rooms and flats in Miraflores, San Borja, San Isidro and Surco. A similar gang was arrested in Miraflores in 2022. Our rules:

    • Meet in a busy bar first.
    • Never accept an opened drink in your room.
    • Let hotel reception register your guest. This is where the ID rule works in your favour.
    • Lock your passport and spare cards in the safe before anyone comes up.

PEP and PrEP. If you need PEP after a risk, go within 72 hours to the emergency department of a private clinic in Miraflores or San Isidro and ask for "profilaxis post-exposición". Peru's health ministry gives out PrEP through public health centres, but short-stay foreigners cannot count on getting it, so bring your own supply. We could not verify a current LGBTQ-specific walk-in clinic for 2026. Ask PROMSEX, the Lima sexual-rights organisation, or your hotel for the nearest option.

Drugs. Peruvian law tolerates tiny amounts for immediate personal use, but the limits are small. Police can still detain you while they decide, and anything over the limit is treated as trafficking, with long prison terms. Chemsex in a hotel room carries an extra risk: if you are robbed, you cannot report it without explaining what happened. Medical cannabis is legal with a prescription; recreational cannabis is not.

Smoking and street drinking. Smoking is banned in enclosed public spaces, and most hotels are non-smoking throughout. Lima's districts, Miraflores included, generally fine people for drinking in the street.

Three picks

Budget: ibis budget Lima Miraflores

ibis budget Lima Miraflores at Calle Alcanfores 677 is 7–9 min from ValeTodo and 6–8 min from Open Deck, along streets that stay lit. Rooms are compact, but because it is a chain you get a predictable visitor policy and Accor's non-discrimination rules, which a cheap hostal does not promise. It scores 4.4 from about 950 reviews. If you would rather stay in Barranco, Viajero Lima Barranco is the best-reviewed cheap bed there.

Mid-range: Radisson RED Miraflores

Radisson RED at Calle Bolívar 210 is 6–8 min from ValeTodo and 5–7 min from Open Deck. It has a rooftop bar for drinks before you go out, plus a gym, and scores 4.5 from about 1,300 reviews. If you prefer character to design, Hotel Antigua Miraflores is 8–10 min away in a mansion built round courtyards.

Splurge: JW Marriott Lima

The JW Marriott on the Malecón de la Reserva is the only luxury hotel within 5–7 min of the club on foot, up a well-lit Av. Larco. Many rooms look out over the Pacific, there is a pool and spa, and Marriott's equality policies apply. The Belmond Miraflores Park is the prettier alternative, but it is a 20-minute cliff walk from the club, and at night you will want a car.
