Gay-Friendly Hotels in Cancún: The Honest 2026 Guide
Last verified: October 2026 · Sources: Google listings, Nomadic Boys (2025), The Gay Passport (2026) and hotel websites.
The honest summary: Cancún has no gay hotel. The Gay Passport says so plainly, and we found no gay-owned guesthouse in the city either. What it has is a long strip of mainstream resorts where same-sex couples are routine. Several of them are adults-only and appear in gay travel guides. The real choice is between the Hotel Zone, for the beach, and downtown, for the bars.
Legal in one line: same-sex marriage is legal in Quintana Roo (since 2012) and across Mexico and Mexico's federal anti-discrimination law covers sexual orientation.
Hotel Zone or downtown?
The Hotel Zone is a 22-kilometre, 7-shaped strip along Boulevard Kukulcán between the Caribbean and the Nichupté lagoon. It's where the beaches are, including Playa Delfines, the beach gay guides name most often. The gay bars are downtown on Avenida Tulum, 20 to 30 minutes away by taxi. Stay in the Hotel Zone if the beach comes first. Stay downtown if you want to walk home from 11:11 Club and pay less.

Adults-only resorts gay travel guides recommend
- Hyatt Zilara Cancún, km 11.5: adults-only all-inclusive, named by both Nomadic Boys and The Gay Passport. Google 4.6 from about 4,000 reviews.
- Le Blanc Spa Resort, km 10 near Punta Cancún: adults-only luxury all-inclusive with a big spa, listed by both guides.
- Secrets The Vine, km 14.5: adults-only all-inclusive in Hyatt's inclusive collection, also on both lists.
- Sandos Cancún, km 14: large adults-only all-inclusive with infinity pools, 4.7 from more than 20,000 Google reviews.
- NIZUC Resort & Spa, Punta Nizuc, km 21: the quiet luxury end of the strip, with private-pool villas, close to the airport.
- Wyndham Grand Cancún, km 16.5: a big all-inclusive for families and couples.
- Eco Hotel El Rey del Caribe, Avenida Uxmal: a small garden hotel near the ADO terminal, a short taxi ride from the gay bars on Avenida Tulum.
- Airport: CUN is about 20 km from the middle of the Hotel Zone and 12 km from downtown. ADO buses run from the airport to the downtown terminal.
- Getting into town: R-1 and R-2 buses run along the Hotel Zone to Avenida Tulum for about 12 pesos; after dark, take a taxi and agree the fare first.
- Season: hurricane season runs from June to November, and sargassum seaweed hits the beaches mostly in late spring and summer. Check the state's sargassum traffic-light before you book a beach week.
- Pride: the 2026 march was on 16 May (a second group marched on 6 June). Downtown hotels fill first that weekend.

Not what some lists say
Temptation Cancún appears on several "gay-friendly" lists. It's an adults-only, topless-optional party resort, and we found no gay-specific marketing or recent gay-guide recommendation that would justify listing it here.
