Book of Luke
About the event
Note the early 11/21/26 date to avoid the holidays!
In November we'll read and discuss the wildly entertaining debut novel by Lovell Holder, The Book of Luke, a political satire/reality TV mashup. The story kicks off when Luke’s seemingly perfect life as a D.C. stay-at-home dad shatters after his husband -- an openly gay, ultra-conservative senator who ran on a platform of transphobia -- is exposed as a serial cheater. Desperate for fast cash to secure full custody of his kids, Luke does the unthinkable: he returns to Endeavor, the brutal reality TV competition he won a decade ago. Equal parts sharp satire and drama, the novel is a page-turner about what happens when your messy past is immortalized on streaming platforms. Author Steven Rowley calls The Book of Luke, "the most fun you'll have reading all year!" Lovell Holder is also a filmaker and director, whose movies include Lavender Men and Loserville. The Book of Luke was published in 2025 and is widely available at local libraries and online in both print and audio format. Join us for this addictive read!
