About this place Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia

The Kimpton Hotel Monaco Philadelphia occupies a Beaux-Arts landmark on Chestnut Street in Old City — a neoclassical building that has housed financial institutions since 1927 and was transformed into one of Philadelphia's most distinctive hotels. The Kimpton brand is explicitly LGBTQ+-welcoming: the chain's culture of inclusion is built into its identity at every level, the properties participate in the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, and the welcome extended to gay and lesbian guests is genuine rather than performative. The Hotel Monaco's 268 rooms are decorated in the Kimpton style — bold colours, personality, comfortable without being stuffy. The hotel's restaurant, Outlander Philadelphia, and the bar programme are among Old City's better options for a hotel dining experience. The Chestnut Street location in Old City places it within walking distance of Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the city's historic core; the Gayborhood on 12th and 13th Streets is a 10-minute walk or a very short rideshare. For gay visitors who want the combination of a genuinely gay-welcoming luxury property with access to both the city's historic attractions and its LGBTQ+ neighbourhood, the Kimpton Hotel Monaco is the optimal choice.

I went to Philly for my cousins wedding & it was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel industry. I was traveling with my 2 year old & new born. My flight was delayed & so was the car service. I missed to call the hotel to advise I was arriving late & upon my arrival I was advised my room was canceled as I was a no show & they could not check me in until 3am. Yet, no one called for curtesy prior to canceling. Just to give me the same room I had booked that they “cancelled”. Then they told me I had to wait in the lobby until the system came back up at 3am. It was 2am. I was expected to stay in the lobby waiting with my kids. When I asked if they had filtered water to give my newborn a bottle of formula they charged me $8 for a water bottle. Disney world doesn’t even charge that. Then I asked where I can buy a water bottle. Shocker no where. She couldn’t even give me a complementary water bottle for the inconvenience & seeing my two kids yelling & crying from exhaustion of the trip. The lady at the front desk didn’t even make eye contact & was rude. Horrible customer service to make the customer feel welcome. I would suggest training on reading the room & accommodations. I wasn’t asking for anything free I was paying a pretty penny for the stay. When I called the hotel prior to our stay. I told them I was renting a car if they had parking they said yes but didn’t mention the valet price per night. Surprise! The room was clean but the newborn crib was a pack & play with a hard mat (no padding). None of this was communicated. For the amount of money they charge to stay a night the lack of accommodation & communication was disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel ever.

An absolutely flawless stay! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and attentive to every detail! The service at Hotel Monaco is unmatched; the concierge, Roshid, went above and beyond to ensure a perfect long weekend. The room was immaculate, spacious and luxurious. The location is spectacular, offering breathtaking views, and easy access to the best parts of the city! Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Monaco for an unforgettable trip! Highly recommend this property for anyone seeking a true five star experience!
