National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC)

The National Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (NGLHRC) is an independent Kenyan human-rights organisation founded in 2012 by a group of legal advocates. It provides free legal aid to sexual and gender minorities, documents abuses and blackmail cases, and litigates for reform — most notably winning a landmark 2023 Supreme Court ruling that affirmed its own constitutional right to register as an NGO. For LGBTQ+ visitors, NGLHRC is the in-country legal lifeline if something goes wrong beyond what an embassy can handle. It keeps its physical address private for the security of its clients and staff.
