Free remote training 17.11.2026 Rainbow in early childhood education – how to consider diversity as part of the activities?

In honor of Children's Rights Week, Seta is organizing a free training for early childhood education professionals!
The training will be held on November 17, 2026, from 10 AM to 12 PM via Microsoft Teams.
Rainbow themes are part of early childhood education and are also guided by the Core Curriculum for Early Childhood Education (2022). The Core Curriculum for Early Childhood Education obliges us to respectfully examine the diversity of the local community and gender. Early childhood education must also be gender-sensitive, and staff must encourage children to make choices without gender-based or other characteristic-based stereotypical roles or expectations.
In what ways can gender diversity be addressed as part of everyday early childhood education? How can every professional challenge gender and heteronormativity? How to talk to children about diverse families? How to consider diverse families and relationships as part of cooperation with families?
The training will cover how rainbow themes can be taken into account in early childhood education at both the level of encounters and structures. The training will also provide tools for functional equality and non-discrimination planning.
The trainer is Seta's education expert Venla Suutari (Bachelor of Education, Early Childhood Education Teacher, Master of Arts).
The training will last 1.5 hours, followed by 30 minutes for discussion and questions.
