Art, music, food and conversation for queer women in Manchester.
Violet Hours is a new event series for sapphic and queer women who want something more considered than another night in a bar. Our opening evenings have gone — the next four are below, or join the mailing list to hear when new dates are released. Manchester and Leeds have brilliant queer nightlife, community groups and grassroots events. Violet Hours is being created as an additional space.
This is for queer women who want culture, company and atmosphere without everything revolving around clubs, dating apps or late nights.

Every Violet Hours evening is designed with solo attendees in mind — interactive hosting, communal seating and natural ways to meet people. You do not need to bring anyone. You will not be left standing at the edge of the room.

No. 06Autumn Launch

The first evenings are here.
Our first four evenings — a sapphic jazz night in Leeds, a private library tour and lunch in Manchester, a women’s football watch party in Stockport and a drinks mixer in Manchester’s Northern Quarter — have now taken place. They are small, intimate and intentionally hosted, the beginning of a season of cultural evenings before we grow towards a larger summer gathering for queer women in and around Manchester and Leeds. Next: Labelled With Love at The Bridgewater Hotel in Worsley, Wander Together at Sale Water Park, a drinks mixer in Leeds — location still to be confirmed, tickets on the way — and a theatre trip to Victoria Wood’s Dinnerladies at the Manchester Opera House in January, with drinks before or after the show.

Violet Hours is for sapphic and queer women in Manchester and the North West. You might be single, partnered, newly out, long out, new to the city, returning to queer spaces, or simply looking for a different kind of social calendar.

You do not need to come with a group.
You do not need to know anyone.
You just need to want to be in good company.
