Victorian Pride Centre

Love this place. Stunning.

I visited the Victorian Pride Centre in January for a drag show as part of the Midsumma Festival, and I honestly couldn’t believe how close it is to me in St Kilda. It’s incredibly easy to get to, with trams running along the street and a stop right out the front. There’s also plenty of parking around the area, which makes it really accessible no matter how you get there. The building itself has a big, open entrance and a beautifully colourful foyer. I’m not sure if it was decorated specially for the show or if it’s always like that, but it looked stunning and felt very welcoming. When we arrived, there was actually a dance class happening in the foyer, which added nicely to the community atmosphere. We then headed through to the performance space at the back which was a darker room set up with a gorgeous stage and rainbow backdrop. Chairs had been arranged for the audience in what felt like a large, open space being transformed for the show. It worked really well and created an intimate vibe. The show itself was fantastic, and I love that the Pride Centre actively supports local drag artists and hosts so many events during the festival period. It really feels like a hub for the community. They also have a rooftop space and very creative wall installations that sparked conversation. The whole centre feels open, thoughtfully designed, and genuinely comfortable to be in. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the overall energy of the event was warm and welcoming. I went with a group of friends and had such a fun night. The venue is also very accessible, with toilets on site and multiple levels within the building. I’m really looking forward to attending more events here now that I know how close and easy it is to get to. It’s a beautiful community space, and I’d absolutely encourage people to check it out or head along to a show sometime.

Signed a stat Dec here yesterday and it felt so special to do it in this space. Such a happy, peaceful community to be part of with so much history. Absolutely love it here and the building itself is amazing.

Interesting building with beautiful architecture

Went there for the first time. Very close to the city. It's really a pride of Melbourne

Magical place Love my gp there and there is plenty to do and see so highly recommend going early to browse even jus tsit and be still in a beautiful space
