Maitai Express Tahiti

Mixed feelings about this hotel, two possible scenarios. If you want to stay in Papeete and have a paradise experience, this is definitely not the place. The hotel is new, certainly, but it's quite gloomy, and some rooms have a musty smell. The breakfast is really not worth it, even though the woman serving it was very nice! The coffee and hot chocolate were really bad, just pieces of bread and croissants of very poor quality, and just a piece of Emmental cheese and a fruit juice for the "intercontinental breakfast" experience. I recommend having breakfast near the hotel; it will be cheaper and much better quality. I would only recommend this hotel if you are in transit in Papeete while waiting for your flight, as it's close to the port, so it's okay for half a night, but no longer. It's definitely not the wow experience of Polynesia! We also had a taxi service arranged for our hotel-airport transfer, but the hotel wasn't aware of it and the reception staff didn't seem to care at all. We had to call ourselves to make sure everything was okay (it was, but their customer service was absolutely terrible). In short, for the price (around €200 a night), it's outrageous and not worth it.

The hotel is ideally located in the city center. The room was small but very well equipped. Breakfast was rather sweet, a bit light for those who prefer savory options. In the evening, the food trucks in Place Vai'eté are right across the street, which is very convenient.

Short walk to the cruise terminal

Great location for the market, shops, restaurants and of course the ferry terminal. Cosy and comfortable rooms, great bed, quiet, staff outstandingly helpful and friendly. Very helpful money changer 1 minute walk around the corner and really helpful Vini mobile shop a little further. Highly recommend!

Good location for ferry port, walkable. Well appointed comfortable rooms and they were happy to keep luggage after checkout. Modern bathroom. Simple but good breakfast. Location walkable to market. Very friendly and good value.

€250 for a room with windows that don't open, no view, no outdoor space, breakfast served in an impersonal room with no view because the curtains are drawn, no terrace... the price is supposedly justified because it's right in the city center, sure, but downtown Papeete isn't the Champs-Élysées, the city is so ugly and gloomy at night! And during the day too, for that matter! Nothing justifies this price. Go outside of Papeete; Tahiti is very beautiful, except for that!

We flew in on Air Tahiti-Nui and arrived at 4am for a Cruise on Norwegian. We knew the ship would not start allowing people onboard and in your room until at least 2pm, and we were correct. So, we booked a room here for the night before, wrote the hotel and let them know we are paying for the room, but will not arrive until around 5am. They wrote back and said MANY people do the same thing and when we arrived at 5am, our room was waiting on us. Very nice, clean and new hotel. $225 on average when there is a cruise ship starting a journey the same day. On days without a cruise ship starting or ending, the price is lower. Very professional and extremely convenient. It only took 4 minutes to take our bags from the front door of the hotel to the cruise terminal. This is the place to get some rest if you fly in early like we did. Most flights are arriving at odd hours like this one.

Very well located in the center of Papeete, close to the food trucks and the port

We stayed for just one night before leaving for Moorea the next day. Upon arrival, they were very kind and friendly. In the room, we found a shopping bag and a T-shirt, as well as towels arranged in the shape of swans. They left us some small bottles of water in the fridge. The location is very convenient for the port and the famous Tahitian market. The room was clean and cool upon arrival, thanks to the air conditioning. The breakfast is simple, not particularly high-quality, and only includes sweet items (apart from cheese and butter).

We have stayed at the Maitai Express Tahiti twice. Overall, the experience was satisfactory, with some positive aspects but also a few areas for improvement. The rooms are modern, clean, and comfortable. The bedding is good quality, and the location is particularly convenient, close to the airport, downtown Papeete, and shops. It's a good option for a one- or two-night layover. Regarding breakfast, we were a little disappointed. The selection is quite limited, and the quality could be improved. During one of our stays, there was no fruit available. During our first stay, we had a room with an adjoining door, and the soundproofing wasn't ideal: we could easily hear conversations and noises from the next room. It was impossible to get a wink of sleep… However, during our second stay, we didn't encounter this type of problem and slept much better. It depends on the room assigned by the hotel. Another point to note: during our second visit, we had no hot water in the shower. The reception staff were responsive and explained the procedure: run the hot water in the sink before turning on the shower mixer. This resolved the issue, although the procedure isn't necessarily obvious to guests. In short, it's a practical, clean, and well-located hotel for a short stay in Tahiti. With a few improvements to the breakfast and some technical aspects, the experience would be much more enjoyable.

Centrally located. Clean, comfortable beds. The Bora Bora Lounge is opposite.

We only stayed one night. We were very satisfied. Nice bar across the street. With a selection of light snacks.
