About this place Village

Village is a small LGBTQ+ bar on the second floor of a building in Doyamacho, Kita Ward, the cluster of tiny gay bars just east of Umeda that makes up Osaka's main gay district. As at most Doyama bars, you sit at the counter and talk to the staff and regulars, and karaoke is a big part of the night. Anime theme songs come up often. Visitors are generally welcome, but expect a seat charge or set-drink system, which is standard in Japanese bars. Ask about prices when you sit down. Its Google rating is a middling 3.5 from about 60 reviews. Weekends are busiest.

The atmosphere was quiet when we arrived, but the waitress suggested we do karaoke even though we were the only ones in the bar. It ended up being a very nice evening.

What a wonderful little gay bar! Cheap drinks and as much karaoke as you could handle! Loved it!

The bartender Loxonin is so nice! ☺️ My friend and I from America were treated so well and we even talked about our favorite games together with the barteneder! This is my favorite bar experience so far and the karaoke/vibe is very fun! Thank you Loxonin!

I was served by the owner, who is over 70, and I found it unpleasant that he spoke to me informally the entire time, even though it was our first meeting. If he had spoken to me a little before using informal language, it wouldn't have been so unpleasant.
