What reviewers say

Visitors appreciate the hotel's convenient location near Shinjuku and its quiet surroundings, along with the helpfulness of the café staff. About this place ART HOTELS SHIBUYA

ART HOTELS SHIBUYA is a modern mainstream hotel in Honmachi 2-chome, a residential part of Shibuya ward. It is listed as gay-friendly and is not a gay hotel. Despite the name, it is not near Shibuya Crossing: Honmachi sits closer to Hatsudai and western Shinjuku. That location actually helps if Shinjuku Ni-chome, Tokyo's gay bar district, is on your plans, since Shinjuku is a short train or taxi ride away. Google reviewers rate it about 4.3 from around 85 reviews. Check the nearest station and room sizes on the hotel's site before booking, as Tokyo hotel rooms are often compact.

Nice hotel with easy self check-in and checkout. Room design is very spartan but has a washing machine inside which is really seldom! Area is well connected with metro at Hatsudai station and more calm for Tokyo with a nice park close-by (Shinjuku Central Park) Nice café in the ground floor. Would stay again for sleeping, but hotel itself offers very little else.

A very quiet start to my trip in Japan. I arrived at the hotel quite tired and overstimulated, but the lady and the young man from the coffee shop under the hotel (presumably they belong together) very kindly helped me with my suitcases and even assisted me with the self-service check-in and opening my room. It really felt like a warm welcome right away. The hotel is a 3-minute walk from the metro, and there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores in this quiet neighborhood. And you are in the heart of Tokyo in no time!

It's just one stop from Shinjuku Station, making it easily accessible.

Despite being a hotel guest, I was told by staff I must order something in cafe to use same Internet as my room. Cold, impersonal service and rooms. "Brutalist" said another reviewer. I'd call it prison-like!

Overall, the ART HOTELS SHIBUYA is an excellent place, thanks to its proximity to the Keio subway line, restaurants, and convenient amenities (laundry, convenience store, etc.). The area is relatively quiet, and the hotel's small café is truly delightful. All the staff were fantastic and welcoming. I highly recommend it, especially if it's your first time in Japan. Staying in this peaceful neighborhood gives you a little time to adjust to Japanese life. Also note that the value for money is very reasonable; this hotel is a departure from what you might expect from a typical hotel. In short... go for it!!!
