About the event

🐱🍁 Gotokuji Lucky Cat Walk & International Friendship! 🌏✨
豪徳寺・招き猫&世田谷街歩き国際交流!

🇬🇧 English
🐱✨ Discover Tokyo's famous Lucky Cat Temple, explore hidden local gems, and make new friends! 🌏🍁
Did you know there's a beautiful temple in Tokyo filled with countless lucky cats? 🐱
This time, we're heading to Gotokuji, one of Tokyo's most charming neighborhoods, where traditional temples, historic shrines, cozy shopping streets, and local culture come together!
Our walk will take us from the lively Gotokuji shopping street to the famous Lucky Cat Temple, then to a historic shrine with a fascinating connection to Japanese sumo wrestling.
Along the way, we'll enjoy the autumn atmosphere, discover unique photo spots, and share conversations with people from Japan and around the world!

🌟 Coming alone? No worries!
Our events are all about making new friends in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. First-timers, solo participants, and people of all nationalities are welcome! 😊

🐾 Our Walking Adventure (14:00–16:00)
🛍️ ① 14:00–14:20 \| Gotokuji Shopping Street – A Charming Local Neighborhood
We'll begin our adventure by exploring Gotokuji's lovely shopping street!
Unlike Tokyo's busy tourist districts, this neighborhood has a warm, nostalgic atmosphere, with small cafés, independent shops, traditional storefronts, and cute lucky-cat decorations.
Keep your eyes open for adorable cat-themed discoveries along the way! 🐱
It's the perfect place to start conversations and get to know your fellow participants.

⛩️ ② 14:20–15:05 \| Gotokuji Temple – A Temple of Thousands of Lucky Cats\!
Our main highlight is Gotokuji Temple, one of Tokyo's most famous lucky-cat destinations!
According to legend, a cat once beckoned a feudal lord into the temple, saving him from a sudden thunderstorm. This story became the origin of Gotokuji's famous Maneki-neko tradition.
Today, countless white lucky-cat figurines of different sizes are lined up at the temple, creating an unforgettable sight! 🐱✨
We'll explore the peaceful grounds, admire the beautiful three-story pagoda, and look for tiny cat decorations hidden in the architecture.
With its traditional buildings and beautiful trees, Gotokuji is also a wonderful place to enjoy the autumn atmosphere and take memorable photos! 🍁📸

🍁 ③ 15:05–15:30 \| Setagaya Hachimangu – A Historic Shrine with a Sumo Tradition\!
Next, we'll discover Setagaya Hachimangu, a hidden historical gem dating back to the 11th century!
Surrounded by greenery, this peaceful shrine offers a fascinating glimpse into Japan's history and traditional culture.
One of its most unusual features is an actual sumo wrestling ring within the shrine grounds!
Traditional ceremonial sumo matches have long been held here as offerings to the gods.
It's a unique opportunity to discover a side of Japanese culture that many visitors to Tokyo never experience! ⛩️✨

🚃 ④ 15:30–16:00 \| Miyanosaka – Local Streets & Friendship Time
We'll finish our walk around Miyanosaka, a peaceful neighborhood along the charming Setagaya Line.
Enjoy the atmosphere of a quieter side of Tokyo, where local streets and traditional neighborhoods create a very different experience from Shibuya or Shinjuku.
This is also a great chance to continue conversations, exchange contacts, and make plans to meet your new friends again!
We'll take a group photo and finish around 16:00. 📸
