Imperial Hotel Tokyo

We stayed at the main building before it was rebuilt, as a family. We stayed in a Junior Suite Park View Twin room with four people, and it was comfortable without feeling cramped. The ample number of staff members provided a reassuring sense of attentiveness. Breakfast at Les Saisons was leisurely and the French toast was especially delicious. At Gargantua, the staff provided excellent service; even when it was busy, they were attentive and helpful, which we greatly appreciate. The "Ittatsumi Torado Tamagomochi," which sells out quickly, is worth reserving. The location is also convenient, about a 5-6 minute taxi ride from Tokyo Station. It's also within walking distance of Ginza.

Excellent service and an outstanding location We had a wonderful stay at the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, Tower Building. The location is excellent, the room and facilities are exceptionally clean, and the overall convenience is outstanding. What impressed us most was the exceptional Japanese hospitality and level of service. The staff were consistently professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. In our experience, the Imperial Hotel offers one of the finest standards of service in Tokyo. One minor inconvenience is that guests staying in the Tower Building generally need to pass through the main building when going outside, which can be slightly inconvenient. The breakfast was high quality, with excellent food and ingredients, although the menu was quite repetitive during our stay. A little more variety would have made it even better. Overall, this is one of the best hotels in Tokyo for service, cleanliness, location, and convenience. Highly recommended, and we would definitely stay here again.

The lobby is decorated with beautiful flowers that change with the seasons: cherry blossoms in spring, sunflowers in summer, chrysanthemums in autumn, roses in winter, and more. It's truly breathtaking. It's the perfect place to meet up before a movie or theater performance.

It's a beautiful hotel, but the problem is it's very expensive.

This is a hotel that becomes more charming the longer you stay. At first glance, the lobby may feel slightly underwhelming. It’s dimly lit and carries the appearance of an older property. But as you spend more time here, you begin to realize that every detail is intentional. The hotel deliberately keeps the lighting subdued. Most of the lights are hidden or recessed, with very few visible fixtures, creating a warm atmosphere that feels more like coming home than entering a grand hotel. Wood is used extensively throughout the interior, yet remarkably, there are almost no creaks—a testament to how meticulously this historic property has been maintained. Even the exposed metal finishes at the joints are matte rather than polished, perfectly complementing the overall color palette. The lobby itself follows a beautifully symmetrical design. Its restaurant and café are home to the hotel’s famous “Wall of Light,” where you’ll often see elegantly dressed elderly Japanese guests quietly enjoying their time. Together, these details evoke the golden age of Art Deco and the lingering elegance of old Imperial Japan. The service is thoughtful and distinctly Japanese—warm, attentive, yet never intrusive. The staff always seem to know exactly when to step in and when to give guests their space. We stayed in a standard king room. It was comfortable and well-appointed, though nothing particularly extraordinary. The room wasn’t especially spacious, but its size is very much in line with what you’d expect from a quality hotel in Japan. The location is another major advantage. Situated on the edge of Ginza, the hotel is exceptionally convenient for both sightseeing and shopping. The Imperial Palace, Marunouchi’s business district, Tokyo Station, Matsuya Ginza, and Mitsukoshi are all within easy walking distance, making it an ideal base for exploring the city.
