Ditto to every word expressed by Jay about a stay at Willows Reach. Mel is the perfect host. The Lodge attests to her desire to make her guests' stay as memorable as ours was. Walking James's beautifully manicured paddocks with canine companion taking the lead is a must-do therapeutic treat. It is without doubt the best place to stop a mo, take a breath and enjoy what Willows has to offer in close reach of the city. A short drive away in Kumeu Village, repeat visits were a must to the Green Grocer cafe where we enjoyed Very Lemony slices with excellent oatmilk coffees, and for takeaways, their tasty quiche and salad selections. Plenty of op shops, a supermarket and nearby west coast beaches to add to the interest of the area.
We are on "Willows-time" the moment we turn into the distinctive tree-lined driveway, passing the main house and "Lady in the Pond", the crofter-style rock walls, the old farm plough and through the rustic farm gate to self-check into The Lodge at Willows Reach - just thirty minutes from home. The spotlessly clean and well-contained accommodation is perfect for two, and has recently been stylishly redecorated. Melanie is a superb host - friendly and engaging, adept at making your stay memorable. You must be an animal lover to visit Willows Reach, but if you are not, you soon will be! There are three dogs with beautiful temperaments; one who will take you on a corner to corner tour of well-manicured paddocks, a lily covered stream and mature evergreen and deciduous trees. A stay at Willows Reach is restorative but I'll let you discover that for yourself 🫶
