Cebu Pride is the Philippines' most significant regional LGBTQ+ Pride event outside Metro Manila ? an annual celebration held in the Visayan Queen City each May that has grown substantially over the past decade to become a destination event drawing participants from across the central and southern Philippines and from the broader Filipino diaspora. The Cebu Pride march and festival reflect the distinctive character of Cebuano LGBTQ+ identity: proud of its regional difference from Manila, deeply community-rooted, and possessed of a particular Cebuano humour and warmth that gives the event a character of its own. The march typically winds through central Cebu City, starting from or finishing at a public venue in the IT Park or Ayala Business Park area, with a programme of performances, drag shows, and community activities that extends the celebration beyond the march itself. Cebu's drag scene ? widely considered one of the strongest in the Philippines ? is prominently featured, with local performers who have developed national reputations for the quality and originality of their work. The May timing makes Cebu Pride the complement to Manila's June march: travelers with the time and flexibility can attend both events in successive months, experiencing the breadth of the Filipino LGBTQ+ scene across the country's two major gay destinations. The Cebu Pride week also serves as a gateway to the island's extraordinary natural attractions ? the whale sharks of Oslob, the sardines of Moalboal, the diving of Malapascua ? giving visitors a full programme beyond the Pride events themselves.
