Visitors frequently praise Z Hostel's exceptional ambiance, friendly and helpful staff, and great rooftop bar with good views. Some guests found the bunk beds to be too high with steep stairs.

About this place Z Hostel

Z Hostel is Manila's most celebrated design hostel and one of the most LGBTQ+-welcoming accommodation options in the city at the mid-range price point. Located in Makati ? Metro Manila's financial district and one of its most internationally-focused municipalities ? Z Hostel combines the social infrastructure of a hostel (rooftop pool, bar, communal spaces, regular events) with design quality and a service ethic that punches well above its price bracket. The hostel's rooftop pool and bar have made it a social destination in their own right ? open to non-staying guests and regularly populated by a mix of travelers, Manila expats, and young local professionals who are drawn to the vibrant, inclusive atmosphere. The LGBTQ+-welcoming character of Z Hostel is not a marketing claim but a lived reality: the staff are explicitly welcoming, the social mix among guests skews young and internationally open-minded, and the hostel has organically become a comfortable base for LGBTQ+ budget and mid-range travelers across its years of operation. Private rooms and dormitories both available. The Makati location places guests in one of Manila's most navigable districts, with the Makati CBD, Greenbelt shopping complex, and the Poblacion nightlife neighbourhood all within easy reach. The Malate gay district is a 20-minute Grab ride. For LGBTQ+ travelers who want a social, design-conscious base without luxury hotel pricing, Z Hostel is the standout recommendation in Metro Manila.

Everything was fine. Only lost 1 star because my bed in the dorm was squeeky.

NO CURTAINS in the shared rooms' bunk beds, including the mixed ones. So there's barely any sense of privacy, nor honestly, protection esp if you're female who ended up in the mixed room. I saw a few reviews on a booking app saying the same thing. I asked the receptionist if it's really normal that there are no curtains, and I was told there are none yet. But given the months-old comments about it, I don't know if it's actually on purpose. Their reasons aside, if you are uncomfortable with the lack of privacy which I very much was, pls confirm first if they have curtains or not. Otherwise, I appreciate the simple but good breakfast with brewed coffee, the rooftop bar and the complementary drink, and the white sheets and towels. Couldn't see a blowdryer tho. The place does have a good, comfy vibe, too.
