About this place Chatra Court Hotel/Serviced Apartments

Chatra Court Hotel is a serviced apartment complex in Bangkok's Sukhumvit, a popular area for LGBTQ+ visitors. It's smaller than the big chains, with staff who guests say are particularly welcoming to gay travelers. You'll find it on Soi Sukhumvit 19, an easy walk to the BTS Skytrain. That makes getting around Bangkok, especially to its nightlife, pretty straightforward. The place has a gym and a pool, which is nice for staying active or just cooling off between trips out. Rooms go from a standard setup to a deluxe penthouse. A standard room costs 1,450 Baht a night, and the penthouse is 4,500 Baht. They also do weekly and monthly rates if you're staying for a while. Bangkok is generally open to LGBTQ+ visitors, with plenty of spots to eat, drink, and explore. Staying somewhere like Chatra Court just makes planning a little easier. It feels more residential than a hotel, and its location is handy for seeing the city on your own terms. Find more details at chatracourt.com.

Fully furnished these apartments are NOT! The owner grudgingly supplied a spoon, fork and a kettle. I had to buy my own teaspoons. The sheets were so threadbare that they ripped when touched. The blanket was so filthy that I wouldn't give it to a dog. The fridge, air-conditioner, hot water and internet didn't work. No washing machine, dryer or television. There were cockroaches. Oh yeh, and the owners forgot to mention that during my paid for month long stay, they were renovating! But someone has to pay for their Mercedes, right?

I stayed here for almost one month in 2013. The managers, Miss Darunee and her husband are super nice and helpful and very honest. The apartment is right next to Surasak BTS (Skytrain) station. This is a big plus in Bangkok. It is not located in the tourist ghettos of Sukhumvit or Khao San, so you see more of the real way of life of the Thais. However, the area is very commercial with lots of office buildings so a bit sterile. While the apartments are surprisingly quiet, there is the occasional siren from an ambulance/police car on the nearby expressway and this can happen any time of the day or night. All in all, a good place.

We stayed at a 1-bedroom with kitchen for a month. The room is quite clean, private and not noisy. Not far from department store and market. I love its comfortable and good location. it is at BTS skytrain station. So we can go travel around easily. It is near silom and easy to go to MBK, central world, siam square, and sukhumvit area. We can go directly to the airport by this sky train which connected to airport link. Well, we enjoyed a boat trip at Bangkok's river nearby. From here, it's easy to go to grand palace and china town too. Staffs is friendly.
