Chiang Mai Pride fills the streets of Thailand's northern cultural capital with colour each year, drawing a mix of local Thai LGBTQ+ community members and the city's considerable expat and tourist population. Chiang Mai's laid-back mountain-town atmosphere gives the pride event a relaxed, festival-like feeling that's quite different from the high-energy spectacle of Bangkok. The moat-encircled old city provides a beautiful backdrop for the parade.
